Browseui.dll Not Found Started by kssc91 , May 28 2007 09:22 AM Please log in to reply 10 replies to this topic #1 kssc91 kssc91 Junior TEG Forum Member Members 4 posts Posted 28 May 2007 - 09:22 AM Hi, i am new here. anyway im not too good with computers, so i'll try and put it in the way the best i could 2 days ago, when i booted up my PC, after typing in my password, this error message popped up saying something about the BROWSEUI.dll file is not found. When i clicked the OK button, i went to desktop and my desktop was without icons at all, my taskbar wasn't there and all i had on my screen was my wallpaper. It's like when u end explorer.exe and the screen goes blank. That's what my screen was like and when i opened up task manager, explorer.exe was not there and i could not relaunch explorer.exe due to the missing BROWSEUI.dll file. Anyway this was my first problem but every other program could be ran through the Run command in task manager. i logged onto the net and found several solutions to the problem, one of which is to reboot the computer in safe mode and to recover the BROWSEUI.dll file from the XP disc. As i bought the computer as an entire package, i did not have the normal XP disc, but instead it came in the form of a recovery disc. However, when i tried to run the recovery disc in safe mode, it could not be ran as one of the commands that microsoft told me to type in cmd, the "i386" could not work on my recovery disc. I am using XP SP 2 and i thought that i could use an XP SP1 disc to recover the BROWSEUI.dll file. I repeated the steps and tried with the XP SP1 disc and at first it looked like it could work. When i rebooted my computer again and logged in as usual, explorer.exe still cannot be launched and whenever i tried to launch explorer.exe manually, explorer.exe would open for a moment without my deskt
