clear cache and dataA system cache clear/cache partition reformat. Just follow the instructions for an alternate factory reset (using volume and power buttons) and do the cache clear instead of a factory reset. Be careful. Like Show 1 Likes(1) Actions 2. It's only a few days old...very frustrating. Tried clearing the data/cache thing...it has nothing to clear. :/ Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words but I'll be sure to work on providing a fix in much less than that. In other words, while I'm terribly sorry to learn of this experience given your phone is really just a few days old, no need to worry as we want to provide resolution ASAP. Droid Maxx Camera Error Please Restart Camera
by tangomike99 on Nov 26, 2013Latest reply on Feb 23, 2015 by tangomike99 Like • Show 2 Likes2 Comment • 10Hello!For one reason or another, the camera on my Moto X stopped functioning. When I would https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/795953 attempt to open the stock camera app, the app would close with the error message "camera is unable to initialize". I was able to fix this issue. In case anyone else encounters it, here are a few things you can try: 1. Reset the Camera app.Navigate to Settings > Apps > Camera. Here, you can clear all the data, clear the cache, uninstall the updates, and then reinstall the updates via https://community.republicwireless.com/thread/19531 Google Play. 2. Restart the phone in safe mode. This method will help you determine if third-party applications are causing issues with the camera. When you start the phone in safe mode, all third-party apps will be disabled. If the camera works in safe mode, you now have the task of determining which of your installed apps is the culprit. To start in safe mode, hold down the lock button as if you were turning the phone off. Hold your finger on the "Power Off" button that appears. Click "OK" to reboot in safe mode. 3. Clear the cache partition. Please use caution when attempting this solution. You risk losing all of your data by performing a factory reset. If you follow the following instructions carefully, you can clear the system cache without any loss of data. Here is an official guide by Motorola: MOTO X - Clear Cache Partition. For me, a simple reboot was ineffective. However, starting the phone in safe mode (2) and opening the camera app while in safe mode was enough to cause the app to operate correctly outside of safe mode.I hope this helps!OutcomesVisibility: Discussions15234 ViewsLast modified on Feb 23, 2015 10:12 PMTags:cacheContent tagged with cachecameraContent tagged with cameraandroid_osContent tagged with android_osmoto_xContent tagged with moto_xsafe_modeContent tagged with safe_modeCategories: General DiscussionPhone:

You don't say whether you tried that already, but that is an obvious first step. When it disappears release the buttons. The Bionic will be rebooting. This is identical to pulling the battery, replacing the battery, and doing a power on. ... I havent tried the "soft reset but if you say its the same as pulling the battery then I have done that. I have also cleared the data on the camera app too. I have not encountered this problem. Googling a little it has appeared on different models. One conclusion was that it was a hardware problem and you should take it in for service. Another conclusion was to go to ... Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All Camera and select Clear Data. As I said ... I have not encountered the problem personally. ...
