it to work. I use the Canon software CanoScan Toolbox to operate the scanner and when trying to scan I was getting the following error message: --------------------------- CanoScan Toolbox --------------------------- Unable to open canon scanner unable to open twain source windows 7 TWAIN source Please check connection Then re-start Toolbox --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Searching the Internet canoscan unable to open twain source for this problem turned up several people having the same problem and several solutions which looked like they may or may not unable to open twain source canoscan lide 25 windows 7 work. One of the recommended solutions was to make sure a certain folder path is in your PATH environment variable. As it turned out this was the problem, so here is how to add that path unable to open twain source canoscan 8400f back into your environment variables. First, determine the correct path to add into the PATH environment variable. Look in C:\Windows\twain_32 and there should one other folder in there. In my case it was named CNQ4803. This is the path that is needed to be added into the PATH environment variable. C:\Windows\twain_32\CNQ4803 Now, follow these instructions to get to the dialog to modify the PATH environment variable. Control Panel > System > and
Unable To Open Twain Source Canoscan Lide 70then choose Advanced System Settings in the left hand column. This will bring up the System Properties dialog (it should already be on the Advanced tab). At the bottom of this dialog is an Environment Variables button. Clicking this button will bring up the Environment Variables dialog. In the bottom panel, scroll until you find the variable named Path. Select this one and then hit the Edit… button to bring up the Edit System Variable dialog. In the Variable value text box, scroll all the way to the right and then add in the path C:\Windows\twain_32\CNQ4803 that was determined earlier. Make sure to separate this value with a preceding semi-colon. And also be careful not to make any other changes to this value. Now OK your way out of all of the dialogs and CanoScan Toolbox will now work as expected. I've had my 4400F about 2 years; today was the first time I had ever run into this 'twain' problem. For some reason, it has, many times in the past, 'lost' something in the CanoScan Toolbox.

Canoscan Toolbox Unable To Open Twain Source25 scanner issue Windows 7 IT Pro > Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility unable to open twain source canoscan lide 60 Question 1 Sign in to vote Hi. I had been running Windows 7 Ultimate RC, since July. When unable to open twain source canoscan lide 20 I plugged in my scanner, it went and found the correct software (CanoScan Toolbox), and my scanner worked perfectly. This weekend I installed Windows 7 Pro. When I plugged in the http://weblogs.asp.net/jeffwids/canon-scanner-unable-to-open-twain-source same scanner...nothing happened. So I installed the CanoScan toolbox, using the setup CD that came with the scanner. I didn't think much of it. Subsequently, I pushed a button on the scanner, and Windows Fax and Scan opened, and the scanner made a terrible noise. When I open the CanoScan toolbox, and try to scan, it says "unable to select TWAIN source." https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/e2963150-ca62-4fb9-b2fe-31e3816b62ca/unable-to-select-twain-source-canon-lide-25-scanner-issue?forum=w7itprohardware I have tried the troubleshooter, downloaded the driver and the entire CanoScan program (for 64-bit Vista) from Canon's website, and tried many other fixes. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. According to the description, you should add c:\WINDOWS\twain_32\CNQLxx (xx is the number of your scanner) to the PATH environmental variable. To change your PATH variable, go to Contorl Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variables button and then New a path for your scanner in the System Variables window. Good Luck! I am not entirely sure what caused it to work, I kept trying different "Vista" download

Each time I replace my laptop (which happens frequently enough) I encounter the same problem, so I thought that I would share with all of you how to solve this issue because it can be a bit annoying.Below is the error message that I always get:Unable to open TWAIN source Please check connection Then re-start ToolboxThe problem is that the TWAIN drivers are not within the system variables path. What I do first is open the Control Panel.Next I click System and Security. Then I click System.Next, I click Advanced system settings. Then, I click Environment Variables…Then I scroll down on the system variables and find the Path, highlight it and then click Edit.Next I add the path name for my TWAIN driver to the Path system variable. In this case, it is c:\windows\twain_32\CNQL25. Lastly, I click OK three times to return to the Control Panel, and then I exit the Control Panel. Finally, I restart the CanonScan Toolbox. Now my scanner works without any issues and the same should be true with your scanner.Newer PostOlder PostShare this PostCanon Scanner – Unable to Open TWAIN Source http://www.enhansoft.com/?p=1227 1-(613)-627-4801 1-(613)-627-4801 Request a follow-upProductsEnhanced Web Reporting v5 Beta (EWRv5_Beta)Enhanced Web Reporting (EWR)Monitor Information Reporting (MI
