at it, it had a spot on it, so i clean up, seem clean, more than the ubuntu 5.04 live cd i'm using right now. First, i ran it without CD integrity check first. i ran Install ubuntu (no live), with full disk partition option. run well until about 23% of copying file. A i/o error 5 appeared, it was about i/o error 5 of (cd image; cd drive or HDD error. suggest clean up cd image; clean up cd drive lens or place unable to mount virtualbox guest additions the PC at more cool environment.) i pressed the [OK] it started to live mode. i restarted the pc, cpu heat was at 46*C then i did a CD integrity check. no error found. WTH???? i ran install again. this time with manual partition, first 10gb for (/) next 29Gb for (/home) the rest 400Mb for swap. (the full disk option set a over 700 Mb partition as swap) it ran to 23% of copying files then the same i/o error 5 appeared again. (Ok.... WTH? CD integrity check said no error...) it started to live mode. i restarted the pc again. then did a CD integrity again. this time it said 1 error reading file. (Ok... now it it got error...) i pressed a key, it restarted, did CD integrity check again, same 1 error reading file. (hrm.) i reformat the hdd, set up a 400 Mb partition at the end for swap by other Live CD just for this purport. i took out the CD, put the Ubuntu 5.04 Live CD in, start. it went all the way nice. i changed something, install FF2. (5.04 went with FF 1.04), run well after more than 2 day alway on (before tried install 8.10 i was let the Ubuntu 5.04 Live CD run over 4 days without shutdown. I tried install Ubuntu 8.10 again. (today morning) This time i did CD integrity first. 0 error files. (Ok, so no error heh.) did CD integrity again, still 0 error files. (hr

• NEXT >> • LTFS & IBM LTO 5 Formating Medium Error by Matt Galetto on Sep 25, 2013 at 10:19:19 pm Hi, I am would to use LTFS and am running into a Formatting Medium Error when trying to format a HP LTO5 Tape. I insert the tape, go to the drive and a little red X appears on the right hand side on the icon. I right click, go to format, then it says "Please Wait While Medium is being Formatted", then an error pops up saying "LTFS60201E Drive Interface Call Format Returned Error 4318 Win 32=4318" Then another error occurs saying "LTFS Manager Timed Out" I'm running: Windows 7 (64 Bit) IBM Ultrium LTO 5 (49Y9898) Internal HBA - ATTO H608 Express Internal Any help would be amazing! ThanksReturn to posts indexReport Post •Re: LTFS & IBM LTO 5 Formating Medium Errorby Tim Jones on Sep 25, 2013 at 11:23:03 pmI suspect that you may have a bad tape in this instance. Can you write to it with other software (NTBackup maybe)? LTFS isn't real helpful in reporting what went wrong and IBM will tell you not to use HP tapes. I figured out that I needed to download the latest microcode for my tape drive. Thanks!Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: LTFS & IBM LTO 5 Formating Medium Errorby Tim Jones on Sep 27, 2013 at 4:35:37 pmMatt - just for closure, was this input from IBM's support, or something that you gleaned through web searching? Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: LTFS & IBM LTO 5 Formating Medium Errorby Matt Galetto on Sep 27, 2013 at 4:48:35 pmI found IBM support to be very unhelpful, especially since I did not have a support contract. I found this through doing a lot of web searching. This is the link which assisted me: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/server/firmware/HHLTO5.html To upgrade I used the IBM Tape Diagnostic Tool Graphical Edition. I downloaded the latest microcode from IBM Fix Central.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: LTFS & IBM LTO 5 Formating Medium Errorby Piotr Niemcewicz on Feb 12, 20
