I'm actually doing this from within PHP, but not using the IMagick extension (I spent too much time banging http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7396169/how-do-i-fix-this-error-with-imagemagick my head against a wall trying to get that working that eventually I just gave up). Instead, I'm using PHP's exec() function to call ImageMagick from the command line and just do the manipulations there. Anyways, I wrote a simple PHP script to do this -- to convert the NEF image into a JPEG image -- and it worked! I ran it through a number of tests. When the JPEG didn't exist, it created it. When the JPEG already did exist, it overwrote it. Perfect! Until today. I made that script last Friday. Today (Monday), when it tried to use it, it stopped working. I literally changed nothing about it, but a couple days later it's failing all the same tests that I ran on Friday. I can retrieve the output from the command line, and these are the errors it's encountering this time around: Magick: `%s' (%d) dcraw.exe -4 -w -O "C:/Windows/TEMP/magick-iDvVnHw-.ppm" "C:/Windows/TEMP/magick-hYeYwWRd" @ error/utility.c/SystemCommand/2094. Magick: delegate failed `dcraw.exe -4 -w -O "%u.ppm" "%i"' @ error/delegate.c/InvokeDelegate/1058. Magick: unable to open image `C:/Windows/TEMP/
December 2011 4 years ago 1 Edit title History Permalink Summarize Hide topic Adamtheclown (talkcontribs) Same problem as listed here: Project:Support desk/Archives/Images/002#Error creating https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Pqhbjjmkgojjqbfi thumbnail: convert.exe: unable to open image :Permission denied .40 blob.c.2FOpenBlob.2F2439 The https://www.drupal.org/node/615966 solution was to turn off Imagemagick. I did that, and the problem went away, but the images, particularly small icons, were pixelated and ugly. So turning back on Imagemagick, and the problem returns. the (nearly) complete error looks like this: Error creating unable to thumbnail: convert.exe: unable to open image (folders)/public_html/deadrisingwiki.com/public/w/images/thumb/d/d8/CaseWest_04.jpg/120px-CaseWest_04.jpg Permission denied @ blob.c/OpenBlob/2480. Update: Searching the web I found this solution: "the directory had the wrong owner and couldn't be written to." How do I go about doing this? i posted a question on this editors talk page also. Update 2: Response from User_talk:Porplemontage at halopedian.com: unable to open Well, after the move some of the thumb directories had the owner of root instead of nobody. I just go log into the server using WinSCP and change the owner on the problematic directory to nobody. I am not sure how this is done. But I will update this thread when I find out. SOLUTION Problem: The directories were owned by root. Solved by User:Emufarmers. This is my own summary: Use chown to make the directories owned by the correct user. (The correct user varies) Reply Edited by External Link to Interwiki (Bot) 19:43, 27 December 2011 4 years ago Permalink Hide Reply to "(SOLVED) Error creating thumbnail: convert.exe: unable to open image (picture location) Permission denied @ blob.c/OpenBlob/2480." What you should do is ensure that the user that the web server runs under (on my Debian machine Apache runs under 'www-data', other systems use 'httpd', 'apache', etc) has read/write permissions on all files in the 'files' directory and read/write/execute permissions on the 'files' directory and all its subdirectories. I'm pretty sure this
