Verified Solution 9 Comments 2,606 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-07 Hi, I have a lot of insert statements that are called in a loop; after a few hundred insert statements, I get the error 'ERROR - unable to allocate an environment handle'. I ontinue the inserts and after somethime I get 'ERROR [NA000] [Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded'. Why does this happen? The code is as follows: strLine is the insert command which is in a loop; these commands are read from a text file; OdbcCommand cmd = new OdbcCommand(strLine, connection); try { cmd.ExecuteReader(); cmd.Dispose(); } catch (Exception oExcpn) { cmd.Dispose(); continue; } 0 Question by:Enid_JP Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byee_auto Question PAQ'd, 50 points refunded, and stored in the solution database. Great in fact. But on Saturday it stopped tracking. The log file at the first error is shown below. The error shows: ERROR - unable to allocate an environment handle. What is causing this and how do we fix it? We are using MySQL 5.1 and GGS 2.1.0.1554 LOG EXTRACT: 2009-05-30 18:37:26.2455 | Info | 299 | Device.get_DeviceMessageMapper | DeviceMapper = Name = GpsGate Generic Device Default mapper Linked to Group.ID = 7 loaded for Device = PHcartracker | 2009-05-30 18:37:26.4330 | Info | 299 | NmeaConnection.UpdateGateMessage | New position (28.1236816666667, -26.0117416666667, 0) (0, 214.67) (2009/05/30 04:37:37 PM) for Paulcar,PHcartracker,SmartPipe, tcp | 2009-05-30 18:37:26.7767 | Info | 299 | DAOFactory.EndRoundTrip | Process time: 00:00:00.9687500 DB:54 Paulcar@TcpConnection | 2009-05-30 18:37:26.8392 | Info | 299 | TcpConnecti

What is the reason for this? The connectionString seems to be correct and the unable to allocate Exceptions rises calling con.open(). Any Ideas TIA Reply With Quote 02-03-06,10:52 #2 elSeabass View Profile View Forum Posts Registered User Join Date Feb 2006 Posts 1 Hi, Had the very same problem there this afternoon, was tearing my hair out. On my local machine I had the informix SDK version 2.81 installed and had installed the version 2.90 over the top. So had to change the path variable in my environment variables (Windows2000). I just made sure the SDK path was specified first, as it takes presedence.
