the next restart it is showing the error as shown undefined symbol: g_array_ref in the photos below. when i googled i saw to remove .ICEauthority in the home directory... undefined symbol: cairo_surface_set_device_scale i did! No beans!:( Any ideas! Edit1: I'm now running on a live cd! Better to tell to do from a live cd, rather than doing http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/symbol-lookup-error-usr-lib-libgtk-x11-2-0-so-0-undefined-symbol-434399/ restart and going to terminal! I tried failsafe GNOME also .... no use :( Edit2: These is present in the .xsession-errors: /etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... Setting IM through im-switch for locale=en_IN. Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default. I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE. I: caps.c: Dropping root privileges. Favorite Rating: root unable to log in to GNOME, undefined symbol error in .xsession-errorsThis document http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7013143 (7013143) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document. Environment SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2libgpg-error0-1.6-8.6 Situation root login via gdm (local display as well as via VNC) fails and the GNOME session does not load, no error is displayed. In the file "/root/.xsession-error" the following error is seen:/usr/bin/gpg-agent: symbol undefined symbol: lookup error: /lib64/libgcrypt.so.11: undefined symbol: gpg_err_set_errnoSSH login works as expected. Resolution Update libgpg-error0 and libgpg-error0-32bit to the respective SLES 11 SP2 version (the ones shipped with the DVD). Please also check whether the system was fully patched to SLES 11 SP2. To do so run the command:sam -vvv --no-log-timestamp --no-rpm-verifyand check the listing for "core undefined symbol: g_type_check_instance_is_fundamentally_a packages installed in version unsupported in SP2" around the end of the output. Cause SLES 11 SP2 is running an older version of libgpg-error0 which is missing symbols libgcrypt11 is looking for. Most likely an incomplete update to SP2 is the case and probably more packages may not have been installed on a SP2.
