use. Use the netstat command in the command console to find out what program is using a particular TCP port. Replace
Tcpview
the ## with the port you wish to test. This works on Windows Server 2003 and 2008. netstat -anop TCP|find ":##" The above command will return a PID (process ID). You will need to match that https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/816944 to a running program or service. Type the following command: tasklist /SVC /FI "PID eq ####" Here is an example using port 21. In this example you can see the "ftpsvc" service is using port 21 through svchost.exe - which is normal. In a client's machine, it was MSUpdate2.exe that was using port 21 - a piece of malware using an FTP server to serve pirated movies! During the process, I installed IIS also. I ran my first php script (today script) and it worked fine. Today, when I started up the machine and checked the same script again, I just get a 404 error. I triec to run another simple script () and again nothing. I tried to open a basic html page (again from the wwwroot directory) and again nothing. I have stopped and started my 'World Wide Web Publishing' Service sucessfully on several occasions. Still nothing. I do notice however, that under the Internet Information Services -> Local Computer -> Web Sites -> Default Web Site - there is a red Error sign and it indicates the default web site is stopped. When I try to right click the Default Web Site and 'Start', I get a popup saying "Unexpected error 0x8ffe2740 occured" and it remains stopped. I have a hunch that my problem has something to do with this. Any comments or suggestions please? Mar 22, 2009,19:35 #2 Dan Grossman View Profile View Forum Posts Follow Me On Twitter: @djg
