When it goes away, I silently celebrate the success because I have no idea why it was fixed. Now, unexpected error from external database driver (1) excel the problem seems to stay more often. I have a Paradox database on PC1, where it is primarily used. PC2 is typically the only other one that accesses this database, however, others do at times. PC2 runs an access database that has tables that pull the paradox data in and uses it in an access report. I have recently updated PC2 to a Windows 7 system with Office 2010. Office 2010 could not talk at all to Paradox so I re-loaded access 2003 for

this one purpose. More often than not, I get the 11270 error when trying to access that other computer. Sometimes the following things work: rebooting PC1, finding and deleting the *.lck files on PC1, accessing it first thing in the morning before anyone uses PC1 (even without a fresh boot). Lately there seems to be nothing I can do to fix the problem. Any ideas where I can go from here? Unexpected Error From External Database Driver (1309)
code returned when accessing data using ODBC Hi,I have created an ODBC connection to my TimeSlips database (using the Microsoft Paradox driver)andI have written a .Net aplication that uses this DSN toinsert data into the Referenc table. My application http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?1688511-Sporadic-11270-Error inserts records successfully, however if I am concurrently running TimeSlips, my application fails with error code:[Microsoft][ODBC Paradox Driver] Unexpected error from external database driver (11270).Research on Google has suggested this is due to lock files created in the TimeSlips data folder. Indeed, when TimeSlips is launched, the two files PDOXUSRS.LCK and PARADOX.LCK are created in the data folder, and while these exist, I cannot use my ODBC connection to write to the table. Is there any way I http://sagecity.na.sage.com/support_communities/sage_timeslips/f/51/p/657/1886 can write to the TimeSlips database while someone is running TimeSlips? I.e. Can I write to the table while these LOCK files are there?Thank You NicholasD1980 8 Dec 2010 7:02 PM Cancel 1 Reply Caren2 9 Dec 2010 9:15 AM In reply to Nancy Duhon: What you are trying to do is unsupported and to me is dangerous.. The lock files are there for a reason - they are created to prevent two people writing to the same record at the same time.I'd be worried about data corruption.I don't know about other people but the only way I support writing to the database is through proper use of a license which probably requires use of the SDK..
