Also, I assume that you meet the system requirements for the game and you know your way around your PC as well. Now, personally, I'm running Vista 64-bit and have both http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/944197-call-of-duty-world-at-war/50243364 games running through Valve's Steam service, but this should work for anybody else, as well. Here are the problems I was faced with.Call of Duty: World at War error and crash during gameplay: Unhandled exception caughtandCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has stopped working (crash when I tried to load CoD4's multiplayer).Apparently, this has to do with the sound hardware on your computer. My sound card is a Realtek High Definition Audio. There are multiple ways to fix this, regardless of your hardware.1. Update your sound card's drivers.Self-explanatory. Windows told me that my sound card's drivers were up to date when I tried to update them automatically, but when I checked Realtek's website, I found out they weren't. The only way to tell is by going to your sound card manufacturer's website and checking for updates manually.2. Turn off any modems you're not using.Go to your Control Panel and Device Manager, then under "Sound, video and game controllers", disable any modems you see that you're not using. If you're like me, you don't have any modems at all in your computer, so keep reading.3. Set the game to Compatibility Mode.Find the .exe for CoD

Apache Warrior14th Nov 2008, 05:00 PMTo remedy this problem click: Start>Control Panel>Sound Right Click on the default playback device (e.g. Speakers) and click properties. From there select the Advanced tab. To eliminate this error the default playback format must be set at 24 bit 48000Hz (Studio Quality). Simply select this from the dropdown list and apply the settings. Try launching the game now-Everything should run fine. I found this fix for those of you having the unhandled exception error. Apache Apache Warrior14th Nov 2008, 05:03 PMCall of Duty World at War Black Screen problem/error Ok, for everyone getting the stupid endless black screen bug, the fix is incredibly simple. Just Alt+Tab out if it to switch to a new screen. Afterwards, Alt+Tab back into it, then hit Esc. The main intro should start right up. It's worked for me everytime so far. Now I'm not 100% sure this works on XP or not, since I use 32-bit Vista, but I imagine it will. or try Assuming you have installed Call of Duty World at War in it's default installation directory : Navigate to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\main\video and delete "Treyarch.bik". It is recommended that you keep a backup of this video file Apache Apache Warrior14th Nov 2008, 05:04 PMHow to make your own Call of Duty World at War profile (to save configs and other stuff) / Fixing the profile error or configurations not being saved Vista: Browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\ players and delete everything except for the active.txt.
