Hey everyone, I have a CDA-9883 and I have the ipod cable that plugs into the big slot on the ipod. It worked great for a couple of http://www.caraudio.com/forums/head-units/341025-alpine-error-01-a.html months but lately I have been getting some random erro called "ERROR-01". The music will be playing fine and then the deck will display this error message. If I unplug the ipod and plug it back in, sometimes it starts working again, sometimes it still doesnt work. Any idea what this error message is or what's causing it? I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the ipod, it's either the cable or the deck. Any ideas? Car Stereo Message Forums > > "USB device error" on Alpine IDA-X305S Go Back Pages (2): [1] 2 Next Author Thread turqoisehex New Member "USB device error" on Alpine IDA-X305S I just installed a shiny new IDA-X305S, but whenever I plug in an iPod or iPhone I get the dreaded "USB device error" message. I've tried doing a hard reset on the phones (a 3Gs and a 4) and a factory reset on the HU (holding the red button) to no effect. This was with the white cable that comes with iPhones plugged directly into the HU. When plugged in, the device doesn't give any message at all. Today I tried an iPod touch and got the same message. I have a 160GB HD that works just fine, except that the controls on the HU are less than stellar when using a HD, and it doesn't display album art, which is a nice feature. I don't have the iPod cable that came with the HU (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/kcu-440i/), but I am using the extension cable that came with it. Is there actually any difference between the Apple cable and the Alpine one, or is it just BS? I'll buy the cable if you experts think it will fix the problem. Your opinion or advice is appreciated, thanks! Report this post to a moderator 08-17-2011 01:45 AM bryansong Member Are you using the provided HU cable from Alpine? I copied this from Alpine. Super-Fast USB Connection The iDA-X305S uses a USB connection (cable included) for iPhones, which provides ultra-fast digital data transfers so songs are loaded instantly. Sound quality is maximized by using USB along with the 24-Bit Burr-Brown D/A converter, allowing for an incredible Signal to Noise ratio of 105dB. Plus, the iDA-X305S quickly loads up full Album Art on its screen. Thanks to the USB connection, you can also plug in an USB thumb-drive loaded with music.
