I have tried logging on to different computers, iPhones, iPods, phones, etc and it has the same problem. It says " Your connection to the AIM system has been lost. Please try signing in again. Target rate limit reached. statusDetailCode 5 " My computer connection is perfectly fine because I can use the internet and everything works. It's not the application (I have a Mac) either because my sisters screename works on my laptop but mine doesn't, so there is definitely something wrong with the account itself. I really would like to fix this problem without having to delete my own account and and make a new one. It's my screename that is having issues, not my AOLmail or anything else, just AIM itself. Anyone have any advice on how to fix the problem ASAP? Thanks. Update: I have changed the password, and it still hasn't changed anything. Something is wr
error occurred." It doesn't give me anymore information and tells me I have to quit the program and restart. I do so and still get the same response. I have updated to the latest version of Yosemite and restarted the computer. This is a new issue that just arose today when I turned on my computer. I have been using messages, including the new text forwarding feature flawlessly since Yosemite's release and even before that for iMessages with mavericks. Miranda was unknown error mac recommended to me and so I downloaded it and installed it. However, nothing seems to work. Ill describe below whats happening in the hope that somebody can give some suggestions of what to do about it. When I hover my cursor over the small icon in the tray at the bottom of my screen, all of the various services are listed as Offline. When I double click on the icon, then I get a small box labeled Miranda IM on my screen. When I click on Status in this box, all of the services appear, but they are all still offline. When I click on AIM and then click on online, then I get the message Unknown Error occured when attempting to contact. The same message occurs when I click Away or Invisible. This error message is not very descriptive and I dont know what to do next. As I said, I am completely new at this, so I would appreciate basic instructions on how to fix this problem. I may have done something wrong in setup, so I would appreciate any suggestions about how to check or test the setup procedure if necessary. I also tried t
attempted installation of OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite are the "This copy of the Install OS X El Capitan application can’t be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading" error, or a "This copy of the Install OS X Yosemite application can’t be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading" message, or a more vague "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running again" error message. Sometimes these can be resolved by simply rebooting and trying to reinstall OS X again (or re-downloading the OS X installer if it was damaged), but if the error messages are persistent, then you may find that modifying the system date of the Mac can be the resolution. It's possible to encounter these errors during basically any type of installation attempt in OS X El Capitan or OS X Yosemite, ranging from the standard App Store update, using Internet Recovery, to clean installs, and using a bootable installer volume on a target Mac. If you run into either error message while trying to update or install OS X while from an active OS X boot (say, a standard upgrade from the App Store), you can typically resolve the problem simply by setting the Date & Time on the Mac to be determined automatically. To do this, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Date & Time, and be sure the "Set date and time automatically" option is checked: That method requires the Mac to have active internet access, however. If you're on a computer without internet access, or if you encounter the problem during an alternative OS X installation method and thus can't access System Preferences, turning to the Terminal to set the date is the next option. To determine if the Terminal date trick can fix those error messages and help you to successfully install OS X, you'll need to turn to the command line while at the "Install OS X" boot menu. Pull down the "Utilities" menu option and choose "Terminal", then type the following command into the prompt: date Hit return, and if the reported date is anything other than the actual current date, then you've almost certainly found the cause of the problem. This may look something like: Mon Jan 19 09:55:15 PST 1984 The entire line matters, as the date must be correct in order to install OS X, specifically the year, because if the date set is prior to the release of OS X, the error will trigger. Pay special attention to the year as an obvious indicator of something wrong
