Does the Lion App Store have a debug menu? What usually happens is the connection is overwhelmed, it would tell you if the password XXXXX account ID were wrong.I assume you tried more than once, a restart will usually strengthen these issues out, not always.The Apple ID and your iTunes account are one and the same, they share the user mane and password, what works in one will work in the other, if it fails then something was entered wrong or it is on the other end that the problem is. Try again.The answer to number 3 is Apple has pulled Lion from the App store and is now offering only Mountain Lion.You can upgrade from 10.6.8 to 10.8 without using 10.7.
