Use system restor to bring it to a time before the software. An unspecified error occured (766f6c756d652e63 3f1). Well i've worked on error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 solution computers for years and never seen this before. i've looked at other threads but nobody has had this problem on the system reserve partition. So I've also tried booting to the dvd and runing command promp and runing chkdsk from there and what happens is because the partition is write protected it won't run there either. also i've tried the memory diagnostic tool and nothingis found. I would also like to avoid a fresh install at all costs. So if there is any ideas on which setting(s) need to be changed to allowchkdsk torun on the system reserve patition that would be awsome. If your HDD has bad sectors (since you ran chkdsk /r), best to copy as much data off it as possible and replace the disk. Moreover, if it has bad sectors, stressing it further with defrag before getting your data off it is a really bad idea. –Karan Dec 8 '12 at 2:02 1 @Karan The problem has existed for a long time, and no files seem to be missing.
