Solutions to similar problems I've found tend to be targetting x86 rather than AnyCPU from the Solution explorer. However, I can't even build the solution to explore it. If that doesn't work try running devenv /setup and then open the IDE. –Ovidiu Sep 17 '13 at 11:55 1 I tried creating a new project in both safemode and setup and received the same error prompt –user1405195 Sep 17 '13 at 15:07 2 Is this problem solved ? The solution is to fix your Visual Studio itself. Open the Visual Studio command line (now the Windows command prompt) and then follow these steps, Devenv.exe /SafeMode: Launches the IDE in safe mode loading minimal windows. Devenv.exe /ResetSettings: Restores the IDE's default settings Then it would use the default settings and you will be able to use https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/406d6ff3-75a5-4b2d-8c33-ee17ba46f8ae/unspecified-error-exception-from-hresult-0x80004005-efail?forum=csharpgeneral it. ~!Firewall!~ Marked as answer by Barry WangMicrosoft contingent staff, Moderator Friday, November 21, 2014 8:27 AM Friday, November 14, 2014 3:59 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote MySQL? I'm still new with ASP.Net. Well I'm always getting error as Unspecified error: E_FAIL(0x80004005) whenever I connect to a database. I referred some books for the codes. My code goes like this: Private ConnectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _ "Data Source =" & Server.MapPath("/FSKTMHelpdesk/db1.mdb") Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load cmbSession.Items.Clear() Dim SelectSQL As String SelectSQL = "SELECT Session FROM Programme_Structure" Dim DBConnection As New OleDbConnection(ConnectionString) Dim DBCommand As New OleDbCommand(SelectSQL, DBConnection) Dim DBReader As OleDbDataReader Try DBConnection.Open() DBReader = DBCommand.ExecuteReader() Do While DBReader.Read Dim newItem As New ListItem() newItem.Text = DBReader("Session") newItem.Value = DBReader("Session") cmbSession.Items.Add(newItem) Loop DBReader.Close() Catch err As Exception lblResults.Text = err.Message Finally If (Not DBConnection Is Nothing) Then DBConnection.Close() End If End Try End Sub I have debugged it line by line, but I'm still receiving the same error message. Can someone help me out. Thank you. Reply McMurdoStati...
