If the source query indicated in the session log is executed in sql plus, it executes successfully. However during session run the above error is given. The query is a user defined query involving mapping parameters. what is causing this error? any help would be appreciated. The likely cause is that u must be having, say, 10 fields coming out of SQ, so the generated query would have 10 fields. ORA-01007: variable not in select list tips Oracle Error Tips by Burleson Consulting The Oracle docs note this on the ora-01007 error*: ORA-01007 variable not in select list Cause: A reference was made to a variable not listed in the SELECT clause. In OCI, this can occur if the number passed for the position parameter is less than one or greater than the number of variables in the SELECT clause in any of the following calls: DESCRIBE, NAME, or DEFINE. In SQL*Forms or SQL*Report, specifying more variables in an INTO clause than in the SELECT clause also causes this error. Action: Determine which of the problems listed caused the problem and take appropriate action. If you try to reference a variable and receive an ORA-01007, that variable is not listed in the SELECT clause. ORA-01007 can occur two ways: The error causing ORA-01007 is in OCI, if the number of variables is greater in the SELECT clause than the number of passed variables number passed in the position parameter. In SQL*Report or SQL*Forms, if you have lass values in the SELECT clause, than you specified in the INTO clause.
