So if you need to read some cell and get it into database this error in the file will show as Error 2029. The script will freeze. So, can I pre-replace the content if I get = or - chars in the cell so I validate the content before I read it and get the error 2015 vba evaluate error. Can I pass over it! I need cell validation Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) c = Target.Cells.Column r = Target.Cells.Row 'validate cell End If Thank you! excel vba excel-vba cell share|improve this question edited Aug 2 '12 at 12:14 asked Aug 1 '12 at 13:40 Adrian 45131131 Are you saying that the cell cannot have any = or -? Or are those two characters just not allowed at the start of a cell's value? –Zairja Aug 1 '12 at 14:52 Yes, but some ppl get them into it and save useless/crappy information's ! I need a way not to let them do that! –Adrian Aug 2 '12 at 12:11 Was the "yes" for the 1st or 2nd question? If you don't want the characters at the very start, then try the 1st data validation formula I gave in my answer. If you don't want the characters at all, then try the 2nd. If either one helps you, then you can upvote it even if you don't accept it as your answer. :) –Zairja Aug 2 '12 at 12:43 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Is this what you are trying? It stores transactions in a Progress database. MS Access is used to print some reports on the data scanned and stored. MS Access retrieves data from two Progress DBs. The data collection DB in which it retrieves data and our main Syteline DB from which vba error it simply reads information such as item descriptions, employee names, etc. This error message...“Reserved error (-2029); There is no message for this error” is displaying from MS Access. In the past 4 years it has reared its ugly head on occasion and I have been able to stop and restart the bar code Progress DB and clear the message. No luck now. I cannot shoo it away. I have also tried stopping vba error 2029 and restarting the main Syteline DB from which it retrieves static data. The only Google hit I can get on the message mentions that it is most likely from some kind of lock file. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to clear it? Thanks in advance. mickeyw3340, May 27, 2008 #1 OBP Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 8, 2005 Messages: 19,065 Mickey, I don't know anything about Syteline databases, only Access. So to help you I need to go back to basics with some questions and suggestions. First of all how many Tables does the report read from each Database? Is the Report's Access Database "Linked" to the those Tables? Is the Report based on one or more Queries? If it is based on one or more Queries do you get the Error 2029 when you try to run the Queries manually? OBP, May 28, 2008 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. This helped immensely for numeric examples, however when I attempted to apply the same evaluate(dbl1&Operator1&dbl2) methodology for non-numeric examples, the code fell over with error 2029. I have tried to debug, but cannot see what the problem is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
