Everything works perfectly out of the box, no configuration required whatever. I installed on an encrypted partition via the alternate x64 image from a usb stick. When I boot, the following text line displays on an otherwise empty screen: error: no video mode activated I assume this is from grub? The machine displays this for a few seconds then boots normally, so I must admit this is purely a cosmetic issue. However as I will be starting my machine in front of clients (no suspend or hibernate on an encrypted partition thankyou!) I'd rather get rid of it. I've found similar issues on other posts/forums but no solutions. Any ideas? **** WARNING **** User IQ less than recommended minimum. Replace user and try agai

When I start up the computer I see Error: no video mode activated After this, it goes to the Ubuntu startup page with the logo but after load shows me a list of services that have started and stays on that screen. I am getting very frustrated. Ubuntu left a message saying that 15.04 will no longer receive updates and I should switch, and this version is http://askubuntu.com/questions/731467/ubuntu-15-10-startup-error broken upon arrival. I can use the Ctrl+Alt+F1 command to put in commands but have no idea where to start. Please help. boot share|improve this question edited Feb 9 at 6:01 clearkimura 1,7871226 asked Feb 9 at 4:20 Ryan Creagh Potter Wall 11 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote This seems to be a bug. Maybe you can boot from the Livecd, and try to reinstall GRUB. Use live cd and choose to install Ubuntu. Don't Format partitions already created. Chose mount point for each partition, and then select continue. The grub installer will be reinstalled correctly. Or Try to Commit: _GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_ and _GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET_ in /etc/default/grub will help on this: Then try to run 'sudo update-grub' after changes to /etc/default/grub. I changed the code in the grub file to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" by removing # before the code and GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="text" by adding text in double quotes. After that I am getting this error: no video mode activated. Every time it asks for my user name and password, but when I enter them, it shows a message like 'Hardware Enabled Stack'. Please help me to get rid of this. 12.04 share|improve this question edited no video mode Jun 13 at 12:46 anonymous2 1,6351826 asked Jun 13 at 11:12 Ramsk 12 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer?
