Jun 25, 2007 02:13 PM|ngcdeveloper|LINK I get an error when I try to bring up the visual studio command prompt Choose Toolbox Items (right click in the Toolbox panel > Choose Items...)and then the .Net Framework Components tab. The error is: 'An error occurred loading this property page.' I get this same error in other areas of VS 2005 like Tools > Options > Windows Form Designer. In another forum, I read that if you change your OS's WIndow Display Properties > Appearance > Advanced > Icon to a true type font like Tahoma, it would work (which it did for a few users), but unfortunately, mine was already set to Tahoma and didn't work. Has anyone encountered this bug and gotten a fix? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thx Reply Benson Yu -... Jun 28, 2007 03:32 AM|Benson Yu - MSFT|LINK Hi ngcdeveloper, Based on my research, I find a case which has the same error message with yours. The issue was resolved by running “devenv /setup” in Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt. I’m not sure if this works on you machine. Please try it, I do hope it is helpful. Oct 30, 2007 08:13 PM|Soteriologist|LINK This worked great for me... thank you Benson Yu. The problem I was experiencing was that when I opened up my web.confi
and got error xml. After that I can’t read web.config (so bad) and go to Option -> Text Editor -> XML -> Formatting got a bad message "an error occurred loading this property page" And Google’s time…. i searched solution for that. Search with keyword "vs 2008 option xml formatting error" To fix this issue need to do: Step 1: Open cmd “Run -> cmd” Step 2: Go to the path: - VS2005: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\” - VS2008: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\” Step 3: Typing magic command: devenv /setup Step 4: Wait…wait…it take one or two minutes Step 5: Open VS again and look the nice result. This happens even on a fresh project, so it's not my code. I tried uninstalling through the uninstaller and reinstalling but it still breaks. What steps to I have to take to completely remove or repair all of the files Visual Studio could be relying on that're breaking it? I'm running Windows 7, with the new Service Pack. I can boot into Ubuntu 10.4 if required, though visual studio is not set to run on that OS. P.S> I'm aware of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/248697, but it's both for a much older system and the latest OS it even mentions is XP, so I doubt its relevance. EDIT: Bit more info If I go into linux and create a new folder (let's call this folder TESTPERMS for now) and I navigate to where that folder is in the terminal and enter ls -l I get this result drwx------ 1 nick nick 0 2011-03-16 20:08 TESTPERMS I then enter the command chmod 777 TESTPERMS I get this result: drwx------ 1 nick nick 0 2011-03-16 20:08 TESTPERMS I try sudo chmod 777 TESTPERMS I get this result: drwx------ 1 nick nick 0 2011-03-16 20:08 TESTPERMS Permissions just aren't changing. EDIT: OK, well I only managed to fix matters by completely reformatting. I'll leave this open if there's anybody else who gets this issue but I'll no longer be able to test solutions. c
