Client trouble   7 Replies Jalapeno OP chrisl8592 May 16, 2012 at 8:59 UTC Her laptop is WIN XP with SP3. 0 Tabasco OP Chollis May 16, 2012 at 9:09 UTC We used to get http://pepfry.com/technology/error-5-no-hostname-exists-for-this-connection-entry a similar error message in the past when using XP with a PIX515e, the only solution we could find was to delete the profile in the VPN client and reimport it - not very technical but it worked for us so maybe worth a try. 0 Tabasco OP Facepalm May 16, 2012 at 9:15 UTC Possible that the hostname of her config is missing or corrupt. Try emailing a new copy of your pcf file over to them and getting them to reimport https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/225791-cisco-vpn-client-connection-problem it. 0 Pimiento OP Johan4349 May 16, 2012 at 9:28 UTC 1st Post http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/225415-microsoft-update-kb2675157-breaks-cisco-anyconnect-vpn
0 Thai Pepper OP jbakervt May 16, 2012 at 2:22 UTC "No hostname exists for this connection entry. Unable to make VPN connection." The hostname in the connection field is blank.. Put in the IP address of the VPN server or use the Hostname, or import a new connection entry profile. 0 Datil OP John2851 May 19, 2012 at 1:31 UTC Try manual IP if possible on that client. Sounds like that persons provider has possible DNS issues....I would do a remote connection with that home PC and see if you can do a NSlookup to your DNS name...Someone in this community mentioned possible issues with Verizon mobile and VPN connections if I remember correctly ...might be worth looking into that angle... 0 Pimiento OP randallsindlinger Mar 19, 2014 at 2:27 UTC 1st Post At least in my case, it was a corrupt profile. I found the solution was to restore the profile using "Restore Previous Versions" on the file in C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\Profiles 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year. Today one of the RWs got "Error 5: No hostname exists for this connection entry. Unable to make vpn connection." Documentation mostly points to a corrupt .pcf file (which stores the VPN client connection settings). General advice is replace the file with a known good copy and away you go! Not so much. Now I have "Secure VPN connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding" I have tried many different solutions to this - none of which have worked.
