Calypso Washing Machine Troubleshooting
The obvious things to check per the owner's manual (the non-repair manual), I have already done (make sure no kinks exist in the external pump tube, etc.).I have already taken apart the back panel and bottom http://applianceassistant.com/Washer-Repair/Calypso/Calypso-Diagnostics.php panel of the washer, disconnected the external cooregated drain tube (and checked for clogs). I cleaned this out with water and ensured a good flow. I disconnected the tubes between the drain tank (clear plastic thing at the bottom of the washing chamber), and the horseshoe shaped pump to the left of the drain (bottom view of the washer). This includes both tubes (the one going to the left and right sides of http://www.shopyourway.com/questions/1107587 the horseshoe pump). I removed the horseshoe shaped housing as well. Inspected the pump wheel which spun freely in both directions. The tubes were mostly clean, minus some gunk on the walls at spots. Nothing in the tubes was blocking water flow. The inside of the horseshoe housing was completely clean, no debris whatsoever. Noticed inside the clear plastic drain housing (lower chamber of the drain from the bottom view of the washer), that a ball was present. I read that the ball is suppose to be there to plug up either the external hole leading to the tube that goes to the right side of the horseshoe, or to the top of the lower chamber where another hole is present, that connects the upper and lower chambers of the drain container. One question I have is that I noticed there was a long thin strip of metal going through this upper hole connecting the two chambers together. The strip ended in the lower chamber, but I couldn't tell if it was attached to something or not (it appeared to be). I didn't know if that metal strip belonged there as part of the operating mechanism for the ball and the bi-directional pump, or if it should be removed? I never took off the spin plat

From what I can find, "LD" means it's tanking too long to drain the water from the tub, and that's either a clogged or kinked drain hose. When I press start, the machine started filling the tub, then stops and starts draining. The flow of water leaving the hose seems normal and strong for 10 or so seconds, then peters out, while the water appears to foam up inside the tub. Beyond a kinked or clogged hose, the next culprit would be the pump near as I can tell, although the stream of water in the start of the cycle might suggest otherwise. Can anyone suggest what I should check to determine the culprit and possibly how to remove the stainless tub from the plastic one if I need to get under it for some reason? The model# tag should be inside the lid. Tilt your washer back and look underneath, if you have a flat pancake type water pump, then thats the issue, there is a new upgraded pump for these now.
