We use DCOM to allow client machines access to a shared application which is hosted on Windows 2008. We have one situation where Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines connect fine but XP machines display "Interface Not Supported."We usually getthiswhen anonymous access is not selected via My Computer DCOMaccess but this would surely break the Windows Vista and 7 machines as http://scn.sap.com/thread/1782165 well which isn't happening. The only thing I can see that'shappening is that the following error is being displayed on the server at the time of the connection event 4625 An error occurred during logon 0xC00002ee My only thought is that there's increased security in Windows 2008 which is preventing XP from accessing it but I can't figure out where this setting is. Any ideas? The issue related to the user that was running the Shared App. The user was created in a Windows 2003 AD and then migrated to Windows 2008 AD and this caused some issues with the Service Principle Name (so I was advised). The simple fix was to recreate the user that launches the DCOM application and worked perfectly Hope this helps others as it certainly annoyed me! Email: KB00778 - PI OPC Interface: "OPC Error 800706BA" Product: PI OPC DA HDA Server / PI Interface for OPC DA Version(s): Any Platform: Windows Issue When using the PI OPC Interface, you get the errors below when connecting to an OPC server or when advising groups: "OPC Error 800706BA (The RPC server is unavailable)" "OPC Error 800706BA - Shutdown Advise Failed" How do you resolve this? Solution Errors like these may be generated either on connection or advise. They indicate that a connection to the Windows Remote Procedure service (RPCSS) could not be made, either because the service itself is not running or is impaired, or because a firewall prevented the connection. Errors on Connect Verify that the Windows Remote Procedure service is running on the server computer using the Windows Services control panel (the Windows Task Manager list cannot be used in recent Windows versions because it actually runs under the svchost.exe process). The netstat -a command should also indicate that the computer is listening on port 135. If it does not appear that RPCSS is running, verify that DCOM is enabled on the computer, and restart the server. If there are no obvious problems with the RPCSS service, it is likely that access to port 135 is blocked. If the server is using Windows Firewall, add TCP port 135 to the firewall exception list. Errors on Advise Steps for troubleshooting RPC server failures on advise calls are the same as those above, except that they will be done on the client computer (where the PI OPC Interface is running) rather than on the OPC server machine.
