Is it ok to clear the tables in the Distribution database that have info from earlier attempts at setting things up ?Is there a way to delete the distribution database & really start from scratch ? I've seen this one once before at a customer site and it turned out that they had been messing around with their master database.I don't say you did, but you might wanna check. What they actually did was copying the master database from an old server over the master DB of the new server, without realizing that they were on different service packs. Especially SP3 contains a lot of fixes and changes (like new SP's) for merge replication. After trying to fix it manually for almost a day I told them to reinstall the SQL Server quote:Is it ok to clear the tables in the Distribution database that have info from earlier attempts at setting things up ? The short answer would be yes, but it's not advisable. quote: Is there a way to delete the distribution database & really start from scratch ?Again yes, and it's save. Just run the Disable publishing wizard and everything will get cleaned up.Hope this helpsMarkus Markus Bohse Post #68966 « Prev Topic | Next Topic » Permissions You cannot post new topics. I had foolishly deleted it, but was able to script it from another server. Here's my script below that might work for you. Replace "MYDATABASE" with your database name +++++++++++++++++++ BEGIN TRANSACTION DECLARE @JobID BINARY(16) DECLARE @ReturnCode INT SELECT @ReturnCode = 0 IF (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM msdb.dbo.syscategories WHERE name = N'REPL-Distribution Cleanup') < 1 EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sp_add_category @name = N'REPL-Distribution Cleanup' -- Delete the job with the same name (if it exists) SELECT @JobID = job_id FROM msdb.dbo.sysjobs WHERE (name = N'Distribution clean up: distribution') IF (@JobID IS NOT NULL) BEGIN
