F70 Fault Code Published October 20, 2009 | By Brian Dawson Model #WFW9400SW00, this front whirlpool duet error codes f70 and f71 load washer had been working just fine for the customer, but when it came time to use it recently, nothing would whirlpool duet not turning on work. would lock the controls. Error codes, or fault codes as they are sometimes called are a nice feature found on many of the newer electronic based appliances. They have the ability to kind of self diagnose problems when they arise, and can help find problems before they become larger issues. These error messages really only have one drawback. And that is knowing what the various codes for each machine is trying to tell

us. Now understand, appliances have been using codes for some time, but there is little if any standardization as the codes change for each manufacturer and even change depending on the model from the same manufacturer. Oftentimes the information is available in the tech sheet, which should be located somewhere in the unit, but this isn't always true. So if all else fails, I suggest using this thing called the Internet. Just be aware, about half of the information you find is good, while the other half, well lets say it is less than accurate. How to separate the two is part of the reason I right these posts. But I digress. Because the washer wouldn't do anything, the F70 code would not display, but instead I found it logged in the units memory. I was able to find it by putting the washer into a diagnostic mode, something else that's found in the tech sheet, and instead of running through a test cycle, I simply got the F70 in the display. According to the tech sheet, and the trusty Internet, the F70 is a communication error between the user interface board, and the main control board. These two boards talk to each other each time a button is pressed, or an indicator light turn

It is model number WFW9400VE01. Here is the problem I'm having: A few days ago the washer would not start. Everything would light up, you could chose your settings but when you held the start button in... nothing would happen. Then it displayed code F70. At the time I believe we unplugged it http://www.doityourself.com/forum/electric-large-kitchen-home-appliances/497552-whirlpool-duet-washer-wfw9400ve01-error-f70-wont-turn.html for a few seconds and plugged it back in and then it would not turn on at all. When you push the on button is just beeped 3 times quickly. I know that error F70 is a communications error, I guess at this point I'm just having trouble pinpointing where the error is. Here is what I know so far. - I checked continuity of the harness between the ui boards and the machine control board.. both seemed fine. - when I unplug the blue wires either at the motor control board, machine control board, or the UI board, it displays F71 error. (this is true as of tonight. last night when i unplugged that same wire it did nothing, and then when i plugged it back in the washer would start again and take then display error F70 again after a couple minutes) - I tried disconnecting each harness from the machine control board and getting the display to turn on one by one, and got nothing. - i do have 120v to the machine board Any other tests I can do to diagnose this? I'd really like to avoid replacing the wrong board. Please let me know if there's any more info I can provide to help out. thanks Sponsored Links 06-13-13,02:19 AM #2 PJmax Group Moderator Join Date Oct 2012 State NJ Posts 31,065 These newer style electronic machines are becoming tough for the DIY'er to repair. A repair tech would come in and try replacing the electronic control board.
