Join Now I'm working on migrating nearly 200 printers from a 32-bit Win2008 print server to a 64-bit Win2008 R2 server. Due to the architecture difference, I can't just export the printers from the old server and add them to the new one. So I'm trying to use batch scripts to move them instead. I installed x64 and x86 versions of all our drivers on the new server already, and used prnport.vbs to create ports for the printers. Now I'm trying to use prnmngr.vbs to install the printers using this line: Batchfilecscript C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prnmngr.vbs -a -p "AdminHall2" -r "10.20.42.21" -m "Canon iR C1028/1030 PCL5c" However, for most of them, I keep getting the following error: TextUnable to add printer AdminHall2 Error 0x80041001 Generic failure Operation PutInstance Provider Win32 Provider Description The printer driver is unknown. Win32 error code 1797 It keeps saying the printer driver is unknown, but the drivers are installed in the server. To ensure it wasn't a typo, I went into the drivers properties and copy/pasted the names straight into the batch script. It seems to be most drivers too. A few have work (maybe 12 out of 180), but there's no pattern. They're a mix of brands too (Canon, Brother, Xerox, etc) and models. I can't say I feel like adding 200 printers manually, has anyone encountered this issue, or know what I can do to add the printers in bulk?
