Solved Error number: 0x800A0046 when running Windows Update on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Posted on 2005-02-21 Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 4 Comments 12,333 Views Last Modified: 2009-12-16 I am unable to run windows update on any of the XP Pro SP2 workstations in my Windows 2003 domain. If I remove a computer from the domain, Windows update works fine. Upon opening the Windows update website, if I select express or custom install I get the following error message: 0x800A0046 I am logged on as a local administrator and I have verified that both the Local Administrator and the Service account are added to the "Impersonate a client after authentication" security policy, but I am still receiving the same error message. The problem appears to be related to the Default Domain Policy as I am able to run Windows Update when I remove a workstation from the domain. Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this problem? 0 Question by:davidj_sdg Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 59 Active today Best Solution byLeeTutor Good, IF it works fine on your other machines, then it seems the question has been answered...
