Disable Smb Windows 7
Windows file sharing enabled computer? Microsoft has amped-up their new operating system with some new security standards, which notably fix their aging Samba (SMB) Windows File Sharing protocol. By default, Windows Seven comes pre-configured to only communicate with other file sharing clients and servers which are also using the new beefed-up and more secure version of the Samba file sharing protocol. Because of this, it will not properly communicate with computers running older versions of Samba (SMB) Windows File Sharing protocol. So are you SOL? If you don't continue to read this guide you will be. Connect To Smb Server Windows 7
We have a server that is not joined to our domain, but connects to one samba windows 7 download of our domain controllers that serves the printers. Managers print reports daily from it. Last week we had some errors about RPC, but smb windows 7 not working were able to alleviate them by starting the NT LM Security Support, then resolving the error about the IRPstacksize. After that everything was happy, and we connected the outside server to the DC with domain credentials. Well http://www.tannerwilliamson.com/windows-7-seven-network-file-sharing-fix-samba-smb/394/ this outside server restarts once a week (on tuesdays) and low and behold, is unable to connect to the server again. Trying to recreate the fix from last week, nothing really seems to be working and the errors are now different. Last week I got "The RPC server is unavailable". This week I got "Windows cannot access \\'domaincontroller'. You may not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/386505-a-remote-procedure-call-rpc-error-occured-when-connecting-to-dc you have access permissions. A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred." I then input domain admin credentials for the domain controller in the stored username and password area of the control panel on the outside server. Now I'm simply getting the error: "\\'domaincontroller' A remote procedure call (RPC) protocol error occurred. I can connect to the domain controller fine from a workstation within the domain as well as cross domains from another server. Rebooting the server at this point is not an option. *NOTE* While writing this post up I continued to to try troubleshooting, and was able to successfully reattach the printers from printers and faxes -> add a printer. I believe this was because there are credentials saved in the "Stored Usernames and Passwords" for the domain controller on the outside server. The issue has been band-aided, but we're still getting the RPC protocol error. Any ideas? This is a very old version of Samba, written before Windows even *ran* on 64-bit hardware. Please upgrade to the latest release, that should work fine with 64-bit Windows.
