Excel Many years ago, I created a database to keep track Accounts Payable (AP) Aging reports. It's a fairly simple database, which input an AP Aging report from JD Edward, store the http://joshmastaaa.com/ms-access-error-clipboard-is-damaged/ data by AP Category code and time bucket, and further produce various management http://distributors.maitredpos.com/distributors/support/kb/TROUBLESHOOTING_NETWORK.htm reports. The management reports include: AP Trend (AP balances over time), Threshold report (group the vendors by amount owed), and few other reports. Part of the process to update the database is to run the AP Aging report out of JD Edward in CSV (comma separated value), eliminate the unnecessary headers windows 7 and blank columns, and further Copy and Paste the data from Microsoft Excel to Microsoft Access. Recently, every time we copy and paste the data from Microsoft Excel to Microsoft Access, the following Error Message showed up. It says "THE DATA ON THE CLIPBOARD IS DAMAGED, SO AP CAN'T PASTE IT. There may be an error in the Clipboard, or there may not copy and paste be enough free memory. try the operation again." Microsoft Access - The data on the Clipboard is damaged, so can't paste it Upon further investigation, this error message is due to one of two Microsoft security patches. The first was distributed on 9 December 2008, visit KB958437. The second was distributed on 24 February 2009, visit KB967699. Most PCs automatically install these patches when Microsoft releases them. Unfortunately, these patches has side effects. Microsoft still have not addressed a solution to fix these side effects. Excel and Access have been broken and no longer work together properly. Temporary solution: Copy (Ctrl-C) the data from Microsoft Excel Close the Excel When asked "There is a large amount of information on the Clipboard. Do you want to be able to paste this information into another program later?" - hit YES Paste (Ctrl-P) the data in Microsoft Access Permanent solution: To remove both of the updates above For further detail on how to remove the updates, please see the following link.
