Windows Api Error 1113 Latex
with filenames with non-ascii-chars Status: closed Owner: Christian Schenk Labels: None Updated: 2014-08-20 pdflatex windows api error 1113 Created: 2011-08-09 Creator: U_Fischer Private: No Miktex 2.9 on win XP. The problem has also been reported from a win7 miktex ultimate. Test document (the document is ansinew encoded and the non-ascii chars are "u umlaut" and "a umlaut": \documentclass{article} \usepackage[ansinew]{inputenc} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \begin{document} abc % latex.exe: Windows API error 1113: F++r das Unicode % -Zeichen ist kein zugeordnetes Zeichen in der Mehrbytecodepage vorhanden. % Drücken Sie eine beliebige Taste . . . \input{tüte} %! LaTeX Error: File `täte.tex' not found. %\input{täte} \end{document} The input with the u umlaut (\input{tüte} gives an api error, the other a file not found error. It doesn't matter if the files exist actually exist or not. The behaviour doesn't change if the document encoding is changed to utf8. Similar errors appears with other commands which reads files, e.g. \includegraphics. Which error appears obviously depend simply on the non-ascii char used. On the mailing list someone claimed the problem is new and that such file names worked before (I have some doubts that it could work reliably as I can't imagine how pdftex should be able to convert such file names correctly without knowledge of the document encoding). But imho pdftex should at least capture this API error more gracefully. Ulrike Fischer Discussion Christian Schenk - 2011-08-09 It should actally work if the file contents is UTF-8 encoded... I will check this. If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: U_Fischer - 2011-08-09 Damn. Sorry I forget that I got yesterday interupted before I could run the updates. So it could be that it works for utf8 now. I will check this afternoon. But I think with 8-bit-files you still get the API errors. Very early in the installation process, I get a MikTex setup wizard error saying: windows api error "Windows API Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified Details: C:...\somefile.tpm" The file that results in the error seems to be different every time I try. I have tried many different installation paths, with many different setup options. The same error occurs if I download the ~138MB "Basic MiKTeX 2.9" Installer or if I use the Net Installer to download the entire setup (~1GB). Thanks for help in advance. windows-7 api miktex share|improve this question asked Jan 24 '11 at 22:43 Eric 16112 I tried to install MikTeX 2.9 on a bare new W7 PC without any other software installed. I.e., there was no Adobe. I tried both paths. Did not work. It is certainly not Adobe's problem. –user64624 Jan 31 '11 at 19:00 I installed 2.9 last night on Windows 7 with no problems. Today i'm trying to install on an XP machine and getting the "missing files" problems. Copying from my working version is not an option b/c i work in a "secure" area. Oh well ... now what?! –user65528 Jan
