This is a boot time scan, so this does not apply. 0 Datil OP RobJ1982 Jun 8, 2011 at 12:13 UTC I would agree with the previous. You will be risking losing some data by simply restarting and there is no other way to abort it once it has started running. If you can not wait for it to finish the it is up to you to decide if you should risk damage to the data on the disk versus letting it runs its course. 0 Jalapeno OP sam_anderson Jun 8, 2011 at 12:14 UTC AIUI there is not and stopping it with a lack of power would be a bad idea... Microsoft introduced a file system called ReFS, which does not require an offline chkdsk to windows cancel chkdsk repair corruptions – as it follows a different model for resiliency and hence does not need to run the traditional chkdsk utility. But there may be times when you may want to run the command line version of ChkDsk. In this case you may bring up CMD, enter the command chkdsk /f /r c: to identify bad sectors, attempt recovery of information and fix errors detected, and schedule a ChkDsk run at boot time.
