Yesterday I happened to notice I can't open Windows Firewall anymore. I tried to start Windows Firewall service, but got the following error: Could not start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) service on Local Computer Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it's disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it But I checked that service startup type is automatic and it has hardware profile enabled. The server is running Mcafee Antivirus. But I don't think that's the problem because we have another server with exactly the same OS and antivirus software where the Windows Firewall/ICS service is working fine. I really really neeeeeeeeeeed help because I have to finish setting up the server before the new semester starts BTW, the server has two NICs thanks yifli Sponsored Links 28-08-2007, 05:04 AM #2 Coraleigh Miller Guest Posts: n/a Re: can not start Windows Firewall Hi Yifei Li, You might want to check that your NIC (your main configured one) is bound to TCPIP & client for MS Networks and that its set to the top of the Connections list (Network Connections->Advanced->Advanced Settings). Also if you are not using the other NIC at all make sure its disabled, and to go a step further, unbind it from TCPIP etc. Also within your Services ->DHCP Client check that it is started and that under the Log On tab your hardware profile (prob Profile 1) is Enabled.
