Windows 7 Firewall Error 1068 Dependency Service
recently I got a malware posing as a security program that seems to have disabled my windows firewall. I have since cleaned my windows firewall could not start error 1068 system, but the firewall kept giving me the "1068: dependancy service or group failed to start" error. I tried the advice you gave the person in the closed thread about the same problem but my problem seems to come http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-security/windows-firewall-service-cant-start/d322e0bd-10dc-4b85-b297-007133d91a9a from a slightly different error from his. I used the steps in that topic and the following images show the results I got. When I go to the event viewer, like you mentioned in the topic, it brings up this... I had the most current definitions loaded. When I checked my McAfee firewall it stated on. When I clicked to go into the McAfee firewall, the screen then changed and said it was off. When clicking the Turn On button, it would immediately shut off. I searched this issue and the blogs stated to look at the Windows Firewall under Services. When I checked, it was not there. I did a Windows Searchfor it and found it. When it opens it gives tells me I need to Update the Firewall Settings. When I click on Use Recommended Settings it gives

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. Resolution To resolve this issue, make sure that all dependant services have been started. To do this, follow these steps: Click Start, Run and type Services.msc Double-click the Network Connections entry Set its Startup type to Manual Click Start to start the service Double-click Windows Management Instrumentation Set its Startup type to Automatic Click Start to start the service. After starting the two dependant services, try to start the Windows Firewall service. More information The dependency information for a service can be determined using the Services applet, or using the SC command-line utility. Click Start, Run and type cmd /k sc qc sharedaccess and press enter.
