But I can't figure out how. Is there any way to either fix or bypass the ACPI check? windows-xp acpi share|improve this question asked Aug 3 '15 at 20:50 Mehrdad 11.4k2892167 There's little reason to install Windows XP directly. Doing so would mean you can't morally connect to the Internet, due to unpatched vulnerabilities. If you have to test e.g. Windows XP browsers, there are services for that. If you need something more complete, you could run Windows XP in a virtual machine. –ChrisInEdmonton Aug 3 '15 at 21:38 @ChrisInEdmontom: For the purposes of this question assume I have a valid reason. –Mehrdad Aug 3 '15 at 21:42 1 According to shop.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y410p/… the laptop does not even support Windows 7, let alone Windows XP. It's unlikely you'll be able to make it work. However, it is NOT impossible and so I'm holding out hope I'm mistaken, and certainly not voting to close. –ChrisInEdmonton Aug 3 '15 at 21:46 @Mehrdad no, you don't. If you actually need xp for some bizarre reason, install windows 8 after enabling virtualization in the bios and put xp in a hyperv vm, preferably wit

I need help. Some days ago my disk stopped to work and i had to format it... It happened me once in a 5 years. My pc sometimes just freeze. Well it is not a new pc... and after i reboot it the disk stopped to work. After formating it now it is working and i will have to install windows xp again with all other software. Ok my problem is: I dont want to install windows with acpi support because i had problems with it since the existino of sp2. I solved this problem by changing from acpi to standard pc and then installing apm control for proper shut down. Now after a long time when i have to install xp again , I want to install it without acpi so that i will not have to change later... It is a long procedure changing later to standard pc... I got trough this I now that somewhere at the beginning of the installation i have to press F4 so the installation can go without acpi, but i dont remmember well where, because i have this information on other disk in my pc, waiting for primary disk whick will have the system on it. Enybody know where i have to press F4 or some other button in the installation....?Please help. Thanks Logged RegardsGoranMS-6163 BX Master 3.xP I
