Reports: · Posted 7 years ago Top crist2000 Posts: fix mbr windows 1 This post has been reported. well I gave the same result. But I figured out how to resolve. 1. first, you have to restore Vista. Use bootrec commands (/fixmbr, /fixboot) using Vista restore console. 2. make changes to BCD configuration using Vista Boot utils or manaully by bcdedit commands 3. Copy 3 XP boot files (boot.ini, NTDETECT, ntldr) from Vista root (C:) to partition where XP resides. If you perform correctly all this steps after restart you will see boot menu where you can choose OS. If you choose XP, XP setup resumes.
