I get an error message stating "Cannot Open The Clipboard" when I try to copy a cell in Excel. It doesn't happen every time I try to copy, but it happens very often and for no reason. If I continue to copy the cell it will eventually stop popping up and actually copy the cell. Although it may seem minor when you work in Excel ALL day long and this happens constantly thru out the day, it is very annoying and frustrating. I have googled for an answer but can't find anything. I have tried making sure the Clipboard is cleared and it is. if anybod
The Clipboard" Error In Excel 2010 Aug 16th, 2012 · 1 Comment While copying and pasting items in 2010 Excel, it can be annoying to receive the error message "Cannot open the clipboard".To fix this, there are couple of simple ways.First way :If any remote windows xp clipboard location desktop application is in use (like VNC, Microsoft Remote Desktop and others), close them cannot open clipboard windows 7 and make sure that the associated processes aren't present. (rdpclip.exe for the default remote desktop use in Windows). Check this by right windows vista clipboard clicking on taskbar > Start Task Manager > Processes. Then select that process and choose "End Process".Second way :Simply close Excel and restart it. If there are other Microsoft Office applications open, save and close http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f57/cannon-open-the-clipboard-error-in-excel-626596.html them as well, then open them.Hopefully, there will be a hotfix for this soon.Cheers. I was recently the victim of this annoying error, which would pop http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1859102/how-can-i-fix-cannot-open-clipboard-access-denied-errors up EVERY time I tried to copy data from any cell on my spreadsheet. The strange thing is that the copy still works for me, but I have to keep clicking OK to remove the error message. After some reading and playing around on my own, I've learned that this error can happen for windows xp all kinds of reasons and there are a number of fixes you can try to troubleshoot the error. For the most part, you'll see this error in Microsoft Excel and Word, especially when you are trying to copy any kind of data. Here are all the possible solutions I could find. If you have a different solution, feel free to post it in the comments. Method 1: Sometimes windows xp clipboard in Excel you can get this error if a cell has been copied and you try to copy another cell. You can try to press the ESC key to deselect the copied cell and then try to copy again. This method might let you copy one time, but you may still get the error message on the next attempt to copy. It’s not a permanent fix. Method 2: Another thing you can try is to open the clipboard in Windows and leave it open. Sometimes doing this can help get rid of the error. It’s not a great solution, but these are the strange things you have to do in Windows! You can open the Clipboard by going to Start, Run and typing in clipbrd.exe. You can also go to Windows\System32 directory and double-click on clipbrd.exe. Method 3: If you've been using Remote Desktop, you may get the Cannot Copy to Clipboard error because Remote Desktop uses the clipboard and it can cause weird issues with Excel. Go to Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, kill the process called rdpclip.exe and see if that fixes your problem! If you have UltraVNC installed, it may also be the culprit! Any kind of remote desktop

I'm guessing that these errors are caused by other application locking the clipboard, but I never seem to be doing anything with other applications that should cause the locks. Strangely my users seem to be reporting more of the errors with Vista and Windows 7 than with XP. Is there a way to check if the clipboard is locked before trying to access it? delphi delphi-2010 clipboard copy-paste share|improve this question asked Dec 7 '09 at 10:21 norgepaul 3,75312360 Please note this snippet from Delphi's documentation: " Clipboard.Open -> Opens the clipboard, preventing other applications from changing its contents until the clipboard is Closed. Call Open before adding a series of items to the clipboard. This prevents other applications from overwriting the clipboard until it is closed. (When adding a single item to the clipboard, there is no need to call Open.)" –Silvester Dec 16 '13 at 16:41 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 15 down vote accepted This is not a Delphi problem. Because the clipboard can be locked any moment, even if you check, if the clipboard is currently not locked, it might become locked directly after the check. You have two possibilities here: Don't use the Delphi clipboard class. Instead use raw API functions, where you have a little more fine-grained control over possible error situations. Expect your code to fail by adding an exception handler. Then add some retry code, i.e. retry to set the text three times, perhaps with exponential backoff, before throwing your own error. I'd recommend the second solution, because it'd be the more Delphi-like approach and in the end will result in cleaner code. while not Success do try //Set the clipboard Success := True; except on Exception do begin Inc(RetryCount); if RetryCo
