few minutes. Join Now Several of my users have been reporting system slowness lately.. In trying to track down the cause I find that many of them have the warning 4226 in their event log around the time of the reported slowness.. "TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts." I've read up on the error and understand that XP has a 10 connection limit.. My question is, how do I find out what exactly is causing the issue? Could it be the PC is talking to multiple servers? IE: AV server, Patching server, File server, Print Server, Multiple Application Servers, etc? How do I track this down? Thanks! That should return the "owning process" of the connections as well. 0 Ghost Chili OP https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/101958-tcp-ip-has-reached-the-security-limit-event-id-4226 Curtis3363 Jun 16, 2010 at 11:10 UTC Also right click My Computer then Manage and check the shares, see if any open shares are their. Peer to peer works differently and you can have as many connections you want. and netstat -a not just netstat And you may want to do netstat -a > c:\netstat.txt so you can read the ports in notepad. 0 Chipotle OP Len Jun 16, 2010 at 11:13 UTC Specifically Curtis, I was mentioning Pando Media Downloader, I've seen this particular P2P client bork an entire network because it doesn't work the way it's supposed to when it comes to P2P. I specifically didn't mention torrents ;) 0 Serrano OP tbird2340 Jun 16, 2010 at 11:18 UTC Thanks for the replies.. We don't allow any P2P.. We pretty much lock everything down so whatever this is I think is legit... I've already tried gathering some info using netstat but the problem is I don't think it's like that all the time so I would have to catch it which I don't see how I would.. 0 Ghost Chili OP Curtis3363 Jun 16, 2010 at 11:19 UTC Len wrote: Specifically Curtis, I was mentioning Pando Media Downloader, I've seen this particular P2P client bork an entire network because it doesn't work the way it's supposed to when it comes to P2P.
