How To Extract A Zip File On A Mac
Hi Folks,I'm in dire straits here. A couple of months ago I
How To Unpack A Zip File On Mac
decided to compress some of my backups to conserve space on my external drive. I'm running OSX 10.7 unable to archive zip mac and arching the folders didn't seem to be an issue at all. The OSX version of the zip archiver didn't throw any warnings or messages when these archives were created. When I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6--dQQ9U1fs went back to try and unarchive them using the same utility it wouldn't work. Now, it throws an error to the effect:Unable to expand "Archive.zip" in "Folder".(Error 1 - Operation not permitted)I've tried a number of solutions including the archive into another directory, playing with the permissions, running the zip utility in both 32- and 64-bit modes. I've even moved some https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3789623?tstart=0 of the archives to different versions of OSX and Windows and nothing seems to be working. Can anyone shed light on this issue?ThanksStefan MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1), 15" MBP, 11" MBA, Mini Lion Server Posted on Mar 8, 2012 11:09 AM I have this question too Close Q: Zip Archives won't unarchive... in OS X rather than unzipping the files it creates a new file with extensions like filename.zip.cpgz.CauseThis is a wonderful quirk of zips and compressions. This can be caused by a corrupted file from the download site or an incomplete download, or simply an unrecognized type of compression.SolutionTrying other programsTerminal SolutionRight click the zip file and select ‘open with' there should be one or two options available ‘stuffit expander‘ and ‘archive utility‘ try both of these. If you're still out of luck continue…Download a different zip program, www.kekaosx.com. Install and try from step 1 again. If that still doesn't work then try the terminal solution.Open up your ‘Terminal‘ app (‘cmd + space‘ and type ‘terminal‘) once that is loaded type "unzip " then drag the zip file onto the terminal window and press enter.Your zip file should be located in your user folder (cmd + shft + h in finder)(Optional) Type "open ." to open the folder in ‘Finder‘.Unzipping a file using terminal (gif)Share this:PrintEmailFacebookRedditTwitterGoogleOne Response to Zip files don't unzip Mac OSX Reply MM January 10, 2016 at 17:05 Thank you for sharing this information!!!Leave a ReplyClick here to cancel reply.Name Email (optional) Comment Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
