grep like this: unzip -l test.zip | grep -v Length | grep -v "\-\-\-\-" | g -v Archive | grep -v " files" But it is long and prone to error (e.g a file name Archive in this list will be dropped) Is there any other options with unzip -l (I checked the unzip man page and did not find any) or another tool to do so? It is important to me not to really unzip the archive but just to look into it. filenames zip share|improve this question edited Apr 10 '15 at 20:53 asked May 7 '14 at 13:23 ruffp 282721 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 12 down vote accepted zipinfo -1 file.zip Or: unzip -Z1 file.zip Would list only the files. If you still want the extra info for each file names, you could do: unzip -Zl file.zip | sed '1,2d;$d' Or: unzip -l file.zip | sed '1,3d;$d' | sed '$d' Or (assuming GNU head): unzip -l file.zip | tail -n +4 | head -n -2 share|improve this answer edited Jul 25 at 15:11 answered May 7 '14 at 13:27 Stéphane Chazelas 177k28284509 thanks powerful sed... exactly what I wanted; Also the zipinfo tool is interesting, I didn't know it. –ruffp May 7 '14 at 14:59 add a comment| Your Answer draft

The appropriate versions are listed on and can be downloaded from the Alternative Download Links web page. If you are using a version earlier than WinZip 11.2, you can download https://www.mkssoftware.com/docs/man1/unzip.1.asp the appropriate add-on version from the Legacy Download Links page. Access to a Command Prompt window will also be necessary. Please do the following to attempt to repair a Zip file: Open an zip file administrator Command Prompt window Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 Right click the start button Click Command Prompt (Admin) Windows 7 and Windows Vista Click Start, click All Programs, and click Accessories Right click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator Change directories to the folder where the corrupted Zip file is located Type: "C:\Program Files\WinZip\wzzip" -yf zipfile.zip Press Enter on the keyboard Substitute the actual drive letter and error listing files folder where WinZip is installed if different than above and also use the real Zip file name in the place of zipfile.zip. The double quotes in the example above are necessary due to the space between "Program" and "Files". For a split or spanned Zip file, use the following command instead: "C:\Program Files\WinZip\wzzip" -yfs zipfile.zip WZZIP will create a new Zip file with a FIXED suffix in the file name. The original Zip file will not be modified. Only the data in the original Zip file is used. The FIXED Zip file is structurally sound but the data may still be corrupt. WZZIP does not fix the zipped data itself. If the zipped data has a CRC error or the zipped data is corrupt, then the resulting fixed Zip file will still be corrupt. file[.zip] [file(s) ...] [-x xfile(s) ...] [-d exdir] DESCRIPTION unzip will list, test, or extract files from a ZIP archive, commonly found on MS-DOS systems. The default behavior (with no options) is to extract into the current directory (and subdirectories below it) all files from the specified ZIP archive. A companion program, zip, creates ZIP archives; both programs are compatible with archives created by PKWARE's PKZIP and PKUNZIP for MS-DOS, but in many cases the program options or default behaviors differ. If the archive contains Unix or Win32 symbolic links, these will be displayed (a 0x80000 in the non-MSDOS external file attributes field with both Unix/Linux/MacOS and PTC MKS Toolkit) or restored to NTFS volumes to point to the same names (existing or not existing) as they were in the source file system. Where the source is on an NTFS volume and target does not exist, a file symbolic link will be created. Options -Z zipinfo mode. If the first option on the command line is -Z, the remaining options are taken to be zipinfo options. See the appropriate manual page for a description of these options. -A [OS/2, Unix (but not PTC MKS Toolkit) DLL] print extended help for the DLL's programming interface (API). -c extract files to stdout/screen (``CRT''). This option is similar to the -p option except that the name of each file is printed as it is extracted, the -a option is allowed, and ASCII-EBCDIC conversion is automatically performed if appropriate. This option is not listed in the unzip usage screen. -f freshen existing files, i.e., extract only those files that already exist on disk and that are newer than the disk copies. By default unzip queries before overwriting, but the -o option may be used to suppress the queries. Note that under many operating systems, the TZ (timezone) environment variable mu
