The double quotes in the example above are necessary due to the space between "Program" and "Files". For a split or spanned Zip file, use the following command instead: "C:\Program Files\WinZip\wzzip" -yfs zipfile.zip WZZIP will create a new Zip file with a FIXED suffix in the file name. The original Zip file will not be modified. Only the data in the original Zip file is used. The FIXED Zip file is structurally sound but the data may still be corrupt. WZZIP does not fix the zipped data itself. If the zipped data has a CRC error or the zipped data is corrupt, then the resulting fixed Zip file will still be corrupt. Several users have complained of a "corrupt zip folder" after downloading the file directly from the website (albeit the site is built on Drupal but it is using the public download method so it should be a direct download) The error message when they try to open it in Windows is: The compressed (zip) folder is invalid or corrupted I have tried this myself on Windows http://superuser.com/questions/463881/the-compressed-zip-folder-is-invalid-or-corrupted-error-after-downloading-zi XP and using both Firefox 14 and IE8. Sometimes it downloads and opens correctly, sometimes I get the error. Another user is on Windows 7 and using Internet Explorer and has got this message after several download attempts. When I download via FTP using Filezilla I can open the zip file without errors. As FTP and HTTP download works at times, then I assume the file on the server is not corrupted but something happens during download and re-uploading the file would not fix anything (and I have tried this). I created the zip file using IZArc but I am not so sure the method of creation is relevant in this case as it sometimes works. What causes the above error messages? Why does it happen some of the time and not all of the time? What could I do to ensure zip files open without any errors in future? zip share|improve this question asked Aug 20 '12 at 11:56 authentictech 911115 The answer to all your questions is that the file is corrupt. When you download the zip files from http://www.bfc-creations.com/Designs/OrdDwnLd/zipcorpt.html the internet and try to unzip them (extract, uncompress) you may get an error message saying the files are invalid or corrupt. If this happens delete the zip file that is giving you the error message, Empty zip file your browser's cache (In Internet Explorer go to Tools/Internet Options/ General tab and click the button that says. "Delete Files". Close the browser then click the links in the email you received from BFC-Creations to download the zip files. Some programs that claim to do many different things with embroidery designs rarely do them all well. There are programs such as Buzz Tools and others that may have limits on the size of zip is invalid windows files they can unzip, extract decompress. Some programs will only unzip files that have embroidery formats in them and ignore other files such as pdf and Word documents. When downloading the zip files always click on "SAVE" and not on "OPEN" If you use one of these programs and still get invalid file messages I suggest you download a zip program, such as 7zip from 7zip.Org .
