app. I'm running Vista Ultimate, IIS7, VS 2008 / .NET 3.5. The entire app is about 120 MB so is quite involved but it all seemed to setup fine from the msi. When I run the app and try to login I get a javascript error after clicking the Login link: WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions is not defined When I view the page source the Login link renders the following: Login I've googled this and found a solution that people have used in IIS 6: Bring up IIS and right-click on your virtual directory. Select "Properties". On the Virtual Directory tab in the Application Settings section, click the "Configuration" button. This brings up the "Mappings" tab. Highlight the entry for ".axd" and click "Edit". Be sure that the lower left-hand checkbox for "Check that File Exists" is unchecked! If not, uncheck it and click "OK". The WebResource.axd references you see when doing "View Source" on a .NET webpage don't actually link to a physical file, so if this box is checked then the scripts don't get loaded correctly. However I can't see how to do the above in IIS 7. There is a "Handler Mappings" section with 2 entries for "WebResource.axd" but not with the settings mentioned above. Does anyone have a solution to the problem, or know how to implement the IIS 6 fix above in IIS 7? javascript asp.net iis-7 webforms share|improve this question asked Oct 14 '10 at 13:30 Ciaran Bruen 2,992124460 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote I know that this is a bit late, but hopefully this can help future searchers. The issue was that IE11 users were not able add items is undefined to their cart. The cart works in all other browsers, including older IE. This is the javascript error: 'WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions' is undefined Google made light work of this error message, directing me to Scott Hanselman’s blog describing the issue. In summary, ASP.NET does not recognise the user agent string provided by IE11, and incorrectly “detects” it as a Mozilla browser version 0.0. is not defined The fix was to install some updates. But these updates are months old, and sure enough when I checked windows updates on the server, the fixes were there. So why was the issue still happening? After a little further digging about, it appears that if you have any .browser file in the App_browser folder of the web project, that overrides the global .browser files stored on the server. The ideal solution is to remove this custom .browser file. But I couldn’t do that without a deep investigation into why it was there in the first place. So I opted for the next best solution which was to create another .browser file defining the capabilities of IE11. This worked well, and I didn’t have to restart the web service to do it. A quick and easy fix. Just remember to touch the existing .browser file to force the app to refresh and notice the new .browser file. Here’s the .browser file, which I grabbed from a comment on Hanselman’s blog. medicate patient Previously, ASP.NET 1.1 generated javascript for the browser that looks very similar - medicate patient I know there is JavaScript embedded in System.Web.dll, for example - function WebForm_PostBackOptions(eventTarget, eventArgument, validation, validationGroup, actionUrl, trackFocus, clientSubmit) My C# code behind already has "using System.Web;", and I tried adding "<%@ Import Namespace="System.Web
