It probably will work for others but I have only tested it with windows phone certificate error 80072f89 these. Solution 1: Re-register this App: Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator.Type Get-AppxPackage, press Enter. From the output list, find the Mail App and remember the InstallLocation.Type this command: Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_17.6120.42011.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml"}It would run as below: Solution 2: If re-register App cannot resolve your issue, Please reinstall the App. Step 1: Uninstall it completely Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator.Type Get-AppxPackage, press Enter. From the output list, find Mail App package and remember its PackageFullName as below:And then type the following command:Remove-Appxpackage –Package microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_17.6120.42011.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe Note: After running this command in Windows 10, the Mail icon still appear in the App list and Start menu. and how the Mail App communicates over the network. I am not able to sync any of my email accounts with the Mail app. Thus far, I have only attempted two different Gmail accounts. I followed one thread and disabled https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2cd3efb3-4afc-43df-bac7-2676711e0dc1/error-code-0x80072f89-mail-app?forum=win10itprogeneral the firewall temporarily: this did the trick. However, I would rather not disable my firewall so very often... is there a more permanent workaround? I am not using Windows Defender fyi. I am using 2015 AVG Internet Security. I attempted to add the Mail app to the list of applications that could bypass the firewall by going to AVG Options -> Firewall Settings -> Applications, but the Mail App is not very easy to find... I checked the most obvious place: http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/11590-syncing-e-mail-accounts-windows-10-mail-app-error-code-80072726-a.html Windows -> SystemApps and didn't know where else to look. NuGuy on Thu Mar 02, 2006 9:27 am This is the code I get when trying to update my Win98SE at Microsoft's update site. It scans my existing system OK, then starts to scan for updates. About 2 seconds later I get an http://www.cdrlabs.com/forums/error-0x80072f89-t21332.html error message, and this code is given. This is not in MS's Knowledge Base, and I https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21797886/ERROR-0x80072F89.html found nothing useful via Google. Occasionally (I've tried several times) I get this code: 0x80072F05, but usually it's the "-89" that I get. Does anyone have a clue what's going on? (I checked the sartup activity log [? - at Windows/Windows Log...], and this is the true code.) Thanks. This should give you more info on what's happening. I'm 0x80072f89 windows 10 at work right now, and I guess I should have written down the entire log event line. All log entries/actions were successful except this single event, when the scan for updates actually begins. I have tried several fixes, including a patch from MS. Apparently there are two essential Certificates required, and I have them both -- something like "MS Root Authority" and a "No Liability" from someone else (something like Verifax..?) --- this one is expired, but the MS reference I have says that it should still work anyway. I'm not sure if this situation is related at all to my current problem. I guess it's time for a new computer. I'm reluctant to buy one without knowing exactly what MS's forthcoming OS will require to run well. I've heard that Dell will be implementing some new hardware features this fall, probably intentionally in sync with the availability of the new OS.
