We then have to liaise with your ISP and the vendor of 504 gateway timeout aws the Web server software so that they can review the flow of IP data traffic between various computers under their control. However this is not an easy error to sort out, because the ebb and flow of Internet traffic makes this type of error very transient. 504 errors in the HTTP cycle Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server: Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs). Open an IP socket connection to that IP address. Write an HTTP data stream through that socket. Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information. This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '504'. I've tried: $.ajax({ url: URL, timeout: 120000, success: function(html){ console.log("done"); } }); And $.ajaxSetup({ timeout: 120000, }); After 1 minute it'll just log this to the console: GET website_url 504 (Gateway Time-out) l.cors.b.crossDomain.send @ jquery-2.2.1.min.js:4 n.extend.ajax @ jquery-2.2.1.min.js:4 (anonymous function) @ jsfile.js:89 (anonymous function) @ jsfile.js:98 But all of them jsut show a timeout after 60s. I'm using Chrome if that makes a difference. Does anyone know why? My server still sends the data (I logged it to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/36111213/cant-seem-to-set-timeout-to-be-more-than-60s console when it sends) after like 80s or so, but AJAX timed out at 60s :\ Does anyone know why this is the case? Is there a built in limit for chrome or something? javascript jquery share|improve this question asked Mar 20 at 7:22 Rohinder 636 you are sending a jsonp ? –Zamboney Mar 20 at 7:25 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote Please read the $.ajax documentation, this is a covered topic. This will work for u- $.ajax({ url: "test.html", error: function(){ // will fire when timeout is reached }, success: function(){ //do something }, timeout: 120000 // sets timeout to 120 seconds }); You can get and see what type of error was thrown by accessing the textStatus parameter of the error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) option. The options are "timeout", "error", "abort", and "parsererror". Update If u are getting Error 504, then This usually means that the upstream server is down (no response to the gateway/proxy), rather than that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data. Please have a look in here for detail. U will understand why u are getting this error. share|improve this answer edited Mar 20 at 7:43 answered Mar 20 at 7:26 Abrar Jahin 2,76723357 Yea it just says Error 504, Gateway Timeout.
