We do not have a current Dreamweaver CC tutorial, but we do have a tutorial for configuring Dreaweaver CS5 that should be similar to the version you are using. Please review this tutorial for the proper settings to use with FTP in Dreamweaver. I hope that helps to answer your question! If you require further assistance, please let us know! Regards, Arnel C. Solved FTP Error in Dreamweaver CS5 Posted on 2012-09-27 Adobe Dreamweaver Apache Web Server 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 1,197 Views Last Modified: 2012-09-27 Hi guys, I'm having an issue trying to set the root directory in Site Setup in dreamweaver cs5. Whatever I enter, I get the following error when I try to test... "An http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/community-support/dreamweaver/ftp-connection-error-via-dreamweaver-cc FTP error occurred - cannot open server folder (root folder entered). Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem" The username and password that I've entered are correct. I'm able to upload files via DW, and I can also connect to the FTP server via other means (Filezilla for example). I've tried a few different options in the Root Directory field including: /htdocs/ htdocs/ /htdocs http://www.(sitename).com/ http://www.(sitename).com ftp.(sitename).com etc... If I leave it blank https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27881344/FTP-Error-in-Dreamweaver-CS5.html and hit 'Test', it connects fine. I need to set the root folder, otherwise I get an error when I try to create a Recordset. Any ideas? 0 Question by:gesmuk Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 70 Active today Best Solution byJason C. I have a problem connecting to my host server with Dreamweaver since more than 2 days ago. I have send in support ticket to my host but the problem is still not solved till now. Error Message An FTP error occurred - cannot open remote folder /public_html/. 550 /public_html: No such file or directory Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote server time. The Select Newer and Synchronize commands will not be available. My Dreamweaver Settings Access: FTP Host Directory: /public_html/ I have been an ftp error using the same setting for the past 1 year plus w/o problem until 2 days ago. All my domains are facing the same problem when using Dreamweaver to upload files to the server. I have been sitting in front of the pc trying to connect for the past two day and I found something. When I change the setting for Host Directory from /public_html/ to public_html/ I am able to log in BUT I am unable to upload any files which have been edited. Error message: An FTP error occurred - cannot put file 550: Overwrite permission denied If i edit a file and want to upload the newer version to the server, i need to deleted the existing file on the server before i can upload the newer one. Uploading new or non-edited existing files is possible. I am trying hard to solve the problem, searching for possible solutions on various newsgroups and forums. I realised that it is a server side problem. Definately not a software problem on my side. I tested on a total of 4 different pc, 3 pc at one location and another pc at another location. All shows the same problem with the same error messages. I was told to try changing the permission settings of the directories. The fact is I have not done anything to the directories permission settings before this thing happened. Anyway I tried and changing the permissions does not work. I have already contact my host support. The
