Last week while creating a new site on one of those servers there was Dreamweaver crash. One restart later I went back to working on the new site but now DW has an ftp problem. The error is: "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. An error occurred. Please contact your system administrator."I am the system administrator. Nothing on the server or network has changed.I don't believe this is a credential or firewall issue. Here's why...Site was set up for months and only failed after the crash. All sites defined in DW on this server exhibit the same error. All sites defined in DW not on this server work fine.Connections to this server from another client program on my workstation work fine. The site configuration has been deleted and recreated from scratch and still doesn't work. All of my sites are configured SFTP. I've created an FTP account on the suspect server and it doesn't work from DW but does from another client.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Stuart I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 8936Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Otherwise you may need to recreate the site definitions. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. The same error happens when clicking the test button in the site's server set-up. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actio

looking at in DW's tree view.* Except that, in some circumstances, DW simply will not connect to the server, no matter that you've followed all the usual instructions. Thanks to Craig Lido for pointing me to Macromedia's Dreamweaver TechNote: Add a colon and the port number to the end of the FTP host name in the FTP Host text box. The FTP host name will appear similarly to the following examples: -www.myhost.com:80 -123.456.789.012:80 Much appreciated. I have ALWAYS used Dreamweaver for coding, designing, uploading, etc. but for some reason with this new server, it absolutely will not accept my username and password. I've connected using FileZilla just fine using the same login info, but for some reason Dreamweaver is being http://developedtraffic.com/2006/02/05/dreamweaver-ftp-cant-connect/ stubborn. Any ideas please? Diane Vigil says: Comment posted on 02/23/09 @ 2:17 pm A few things to try: - make sure you're using the correct username and password - are you - try the tips in my article above - In Sites > Manage Sites > Edit > Remote Info, deselect "Use Secure FTP (SFTP) One of those ought to do it. Let me know what happens. moira says: Comment posted on 03/16/09 @ 10:05 pm I have been using an old version - Dreamweaver 2 - which has been great - and now I am having ftp problems. I have tried all of the above and I still get a message - host found connecting - and then - an ftp error occurred - connect make connection to host. I have rung mine host and want me to use their Zilla thing as well which I have to buy. Why would I when D/W has been perfect. Hope you can help. Cheers Moira Diane Vigil says: Comment posted on 03/17/09 @ 12:43 am A couple of questions: have you switched hosts recently? If not, have they changed something? Are you trying to upload via a secure connection (SFTP) that's being rejected? You can always try Filezilla, which is free. If

in Uncategorized If you were once able to connect to your SFTP server from Dreamweaver but now suddenly you cannot and the error message is something useless like "An FTP Error Occurred - Cannot Make Connection to http://techblog.troyweb.com/index.php/2012/02/sftp-connection-problems-from-dreamweaver-cannot-make-connection-to-host/ Host" then the likely cause is that the servers ssh host https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28480776/can't-connect-to-server-via-ftp-from-dreamweaver.html key changed. Why? In my case, our hosting company built us a new VM and when we were ready to start using it, they reassigned the same IPs from the old VM to the new VM. We took this approach instead of changing the DNS entries because an ftp it would be less disruptive to our clients. The problem is the SSH host is different and therefore the SSH host key is different. You can verify this by opening your SSH client and connecting to the new server (with the same IP address or host name). When the SSH client sees that the host file is changed, it an ftp error presents you with a message asking you to accept it. As always, once you accept it, it adds an entry to your known_hosts file located in .ssh/known_hosts if you're on a Mac/*nix and somewhere else if you're on Windows. This enables all SSH clients to work fine with your new host…except Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver, as it turns out, maintains it's own ssh_hosts file that needs to be updated and it WILL NOT tell you. It will simply "fail to connect" when it sees that the host keys don't match and like a freshman programmer, gives you no reason as to why. On Mac/*nix the file is located in: /Users/user.name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/ssh_hosts Or, if you're using an old version of Dreamweaver somewhere in the Application Support folder. Look around, you'll find it. DELETE IT! Or, remove the offending entry, like I did. All better. Hope this helps. I plan on submitting a bug to Adobe. Sean Ryan Developer for Troy Web Consulting. Solved can't connect to server via ftp from dreamweaver Posted on 2014-07-21 Adobe Dreamweaver Networking Protocols File Sharing Software 1 Verified Solution 22 Comments 2,209 Views Last Modified: 2014-07-26 I have a site at test-site.michianait.net that I am trying to update with Dreamweaver CS6. The connection credentials that works with Transmit on a Mac ( and Filezila ) do NOT work when set in Dreamweaver. As the site was built in Dreamweaver, it would be nice to be able to use the ftp client built-in to Dreamweaver to upload files. Is there something special I have to do in the Dreamweaver site definition that is different than what I use for the ftp credentials in Transmit or Filezila? Any help would be appreciated.
