Quote Postby rgutery » 2010-11-30 03:55 I just ran into an issue that I'm a little confused/concerned about. Sending an email to an AOL.COM address gets blocked. By that I mean it never arrives at the user's in box nor does it appear in his/her Spam Folder.I then setup an AOL account for myself, and sent an email from my company email address via hMailserver (which is the only SMTP server I use), and it never shows up. No NDR or anything on hMailserver. Even went so far as to configure AOL to allow all emails and turned Spam Off altogether. Using hMailserver 5.3.3-B1879.I can send an email to my AOL account from Gmail and Yahoo and vice versa. I can also send emails to my Gmail and Yahoo accounts without issue.I've sent an email to AOL support (first via my hMailServer - which never arrived even after 5 hours). I sent one via my Gmail account and got an autoreply immediately.Looking at the delivery que, I see 6 messages destined for the AOL accounts, so I cleared the que. Does anyone have any idea as to why? Thanks a lot all. Top mattg Moderator Posts: 15607 Joined: 2007-06-14 05:12 Location: 'The Outback' Australia Re: AOL Blocking Email. Quote Postby rgutery » 2010-11-30 06:37 Hi Matt, i anticipated this and here is the log. I suspected that it might be a Reverse DNS Lookup - but apparently not, but yet the log shows AOL's server indicating a RDNS issue. So I went to: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ and entered my Domain (flexresponder.com). I've sent an email to them with my DNS files to see if they can see anyting. I also had several collegues check my MX record and they can't see anything wrong.I'll admit, this is the first time I've seen this issue in eons. Hope this helps, and thanks a lot for the assitance.LOG STARTS >>>"SMTPC" 2660 24 "2010-11-29 21:18:50.125" "64.12.90.98" "R

Any thoughts? cheers, David djung42, Jan 8, 2014 #1 martino DiscountASP.NET Staff Based on the report you received it seems that the IP number received a bad reputation from AOL. They temporarily blocked the IP number on their mail server. At this point all you can do is wait until AOL allows this IP number to send to their email servers again. This can sometimes take 24 - 48 hours. martino, Jan 9, 2014 #2 djung42 Thank you for the explanation, but how do I prevent this in the future? Since all my email is sent through DASP, does this mean that at the time my mail was sent out from your mail server, that particular mail server is being blocked by AOL? And times when my mail goes through without any problems, the email is being sent from a mail server that hasn't been blocked? Cheers, David djung42, Jan 12, 2014 #3 mjp DiscountASP.NET Staff Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about it. AOL remains a difficult issue because of the way their users can report "spam" that isn't really spam. We act as quickly as we can, but an occasional AOL b

Make also sure that localhost.localdomain points to the IP 127.0.0.1 in your /etc/hosts file.
