In order to know what is the problem, I want to find the log file and examine it. Where is the location of the ASP.NET Server log file? I couldn't find asp net mvc log it in event viewer, so I don't know where else to look asp.net log-files asp.net-mvc share|improve this question asked Dec 1 '09 at 3:57 Graviton 90072446 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 13 down vote accepted ASP.NET uses IIS logging, so it's really an IIS question. Though there is some detailed info in Event Viewer for some types of events. In IIS6 (and prior), this is located in %SystemRoot%\system32\logfiles, and in IIS7, this is located in %SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles. In both cases, it will be placed in a subfolder called W3SVC{Id}. The Id is the site Id. You can find it by clicking on "Web Sites" in IIS Manager and the site ID will show in that view. share|improve this answer edited Oct 8 '15 at 2:34 Graviton 90072446 answered Dec 1 '09 at 5:43 Scott Forsyth - MVP 13.7k22346 +1 for a more complete answer than my own. Complete Example for Error Handlers Other Versions Visual Studio 2010 .NET Framework 4 Visual Studio 2008 This code example includes elements for both page-level and application-level exception handling. Code Example Files The example consists of the following https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb397417.aspx files: Web.config Global.asax Default.aspx ExceptionUtility (to be put in the App_Code folder) GenericErrorPage.aspx HttpErrorPage.aspx Http404ErrorPage.aspx DefaultRedirectErrorPage.aspx Web.config The following example shows the Web.config file. The customErrors section specifies how to handle errors that occur with file types that are mapped to ASP.NET, such as .aspx, .asmx, and .ashx files. (In IIS 6.0 and in IIS 7.0 in classic mode, static content files such as .html and .jpg files are not mapped to ASP.NET.) The settings in the example customErrors section cause any unhandled HTTP 404 (file not found) errors to be directed to the Http404ErrorPage.aspx file. These HTTP 404 errors would occur if a request were made for an .aspx file, .asmx file, and so on and if the requested file did not exist. All other unhandled errors in ASP.NET files are directed to the DefaultRedirectErrorPage.aspx file. If static content files are not handled by ASP.NET, a request for a nonexistent .html or .jpg file does not cause a redirect to the Http404ErrorPage.aspx file. If you want ASP.NET to handle requests for all file types, you can configure IIS to map file-name extensions to ASP.NET. Note In the ex

Activity logging and error logging in ASP.NET. Download source There are lots of error logging providers available such as log4Net, AnLogger, etc. they are easy to use as well, but just to keep it simple, I have written my own. I call it "Activity and Error Logger", it stores the data in XML format, request by request and session by session. You can actually create the user behaviour maps if you properly call the activity log while performing any major operations. It also takes care of the concurrency, two threads will not overwrite each other. It logs the errors on page in try catch block and
