Battlefield Bad Company 2 Punkbuster Download
and am posting it here to help anyone else who's experienced it. After I downloaded the very large patch yesterday, I was happily playing on a server (on a familiar map) for about 10 minutes when I got kicked and received the following message: Quote: You have been kicked from the game. The reason is: Punkbuster kicked player 'Deadly Ramon' (for 0 minutes) ... pnkbstra.exe download cod4 RESTRICTION. Service Communication Failure. PnkBstrA.exe I tried running PBsetup and, while it reported everything being up to date, it didn't solve the problem, nor did replacing each security file manually as instructed at http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bc2.php . I do use a firewall, a Bigfoot Technologies Killer NIC K1, but it's the one I've always been using while playing Bad Company 2 previously with no issues, so I didn't think it was to blame. I deleted Bad Company 2 and proceeded to begin redownloading and reinstalling it through Steam as I went to bed, as this download required several hours on my modest DSL connection. I awoke when everything was ready and anxiously attempted to reboot the program, only to meet with the same error message. I was pretty frustrated at this point, as were many of you judging by your posts here and on other relevant forums (EA/DICE, Punkbuster, etc.), but I finally did find a Punkbuster setup tutorial at http://www.pbbans.com/info-center-pbsvc.html that linked to a pbsvc.exe download (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe )which proved most helpful. I first deleted PnkBstrA from my directory (the guide suggests that most users will have it in their c:\windows\sy

Reboot your PC. Then download PB services installer from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe, [evenbalance.com] or go to your Origin folder and find where is installed Battlfield folder, then goto __Installer\punkbuster\redist, rightclick on pbsvc.exe file, select in context menu 'Propeties' and goto tab 'Compatibility' and check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: windows xp sp3 or windows 7'. Click 'apply' or 'ok'. And now just run file pbsvc.exe and install it. Reboot PC after install. It's all. I use windows 8 consumer preview build 8250. P.S.: If not work with pbsvc.exe file from origin folder, download and use file from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe.
