Battlefield Bad Company 2 Punkbuster Kick
just bought bad company 2 through steam and I cannot connect to any online game running punkbuster because I get the error message "punkbuster must be running..." I tried to find how to run punkbuster on my computer but could not punkbuster bad company 2 kicked for 0 minutes find any exe files or any place where punkbuster would have been installed. I eventually decided to reinstall punkbuster so I downloaded their new client. I deleted the old version of punkbuster that I had through control panel (although I never found how to run the program, I figured I should get rid of all of the existing data.) The same problem still exists, even though I run the punkbuster client and have added bad company 2 to the list of games, bad company bad company 2 punkbuster kick 2 still says I need to be running punkbuster. Any ideas? It is not an actual client application with UI or anything like that. To verify that punkbuster is running, run the game, then ALT-TAB out of it, and run task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) -> Start Task Manager -> Go to Processes Tab -> "Show processes from all users" -> Confirm Admin elevation -> Now, look for any processes with "PnkBstrA.exe" or "PnkBstrB.exe" If you do not see any, Start Menu -> Administrator Tools -> Services In the list of servises, look for Punk Buster (or PnkBstrA or PnkBstrB) Found it? If you cannot find Punk Buster service, Punk Buster technical support. After you found PunkBuster service, does it list the service's status as "running"? If yes, contact Punk Buster technical support. If no, double click on that service, and "Start" it. Now go back into the game and try again... Still doesn't work? Contact Punk Buster technical support. If you have any questions, Punk Buster technical support. Every BF game has it, and i have had literally dozens if not hundreds of situations where Punkbuster became corrupt and failed to work.What I usually do is uninstall the entire Punkbuster suite through Windows Control Panel and then verify game content through steam. Steam will then realize several folders are missing and re-install Punkbuster.Then I go to the punkbuster site and download the latest version and install it manually. Then I run a check through punkbuster's .exe to verify that Punkbuster is up to date and working. This step is usually just a semi-useless confirmation since punkbuster can tell you everything is fine when in fact it's totally corrupted and broken.It's a shame EA uses this horrible service, just one look at PunkBuster's (EvenBalance) website shows how shoddy and unpr
