it off of MSDN. The OS was installed and had been running without any problems for several weeks. I recently installed disk.sys bsod some updates and after I rebooted my machine I found that I can no longer boot into Windows in regular, safe or repair mode. My pc just freezes after the "starting windows" screen without

the animation starting. In safe mode, the pc freezes when it hits "disk.sys". I can't even use the installation CD to boot into repair mode. I've tried taking out components, changing ram, unplugging all unnecessary devices. Nothing works. Anyone have any ideas? Everything worked perfectly until last night. My pc specs: Intel e5200 Asus p5n7a - bios is in Nvidia RAID mode. Changing to SATA does not fix anything. disk.sys download HDMI out Wednesday, October 07, 2009 3:00 PM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Hi,I noticed that you can't launch Safe mode and Startup Repair mode, even using the installation CD. Regarding the current situation, I would like to propose the following methods.Method 1. If you own another available DVD drive, please connect it to the computer and boot using the installation CD. Then boot in WinRE to perform System Restore, if System Restore doesn't work, let't try to use DISM to revert pending actions. 1) Try using the DISM command to see what update is in a problem state:dism.exe /image:d:\ /get-packages2) Use the /cleanup-image switch with DISM to revert the pending actions:dism.exe /image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions3) Once this is complete, try starting the PC into Windows.Method 2. You can also create a USB boot disk to launch WinRE and take the above troubleshooting steps.Method 3. Unplug the hard disk and slave to another available computer, then run the following commands:chkdsk /fsfc /scannowPlus: basicly before installing Windows Updates, Windows will automatically create a restore point on the hard disk. You properly can run System Restore to get the previous status of the hard disk on another computer. Best RegardsDale Marked as answer

Disk.sys Update
2010 Messages: 3 I built my computer about a year and a half ago, set it up
Windows 7 Disk Sys Reboot
to dual boot Vista x64 and XP x86. I used the Vista boot for games, mainly Flight Simulator X, and personal stuff, and I had classpnp.sys safe mode loop XP boot for AVID and other video programs for work. Vista was installed on C: XP on D:, I have a large disk for storage named I:, and I have a WD Raptor at R: for FSX only. About six months https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/f6dd9572-395b-4e69-b12c-17324bd6a434/windows-7-freezes-on-disksys?forum=w7itprogeneral ago I did a major upgrade to the system, replacing the motherboard processor and ram and upgraded to the new i7 975 chip with 6GB DDR3 RAM. After this, I also upgraded to Vista compatible versions of AVID and pretty much abandonded my XP boot. About a month of setting up workarounds to deal with some memory issues that arose from FSX and Vistas new DX10 and sound acceleration, I decided to buy a copy of XP x64 w/ SP2 while I https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-disk-sys-stop-error.894659/ could still find it. Finally I found an outfit that sold me a copy. I reformatted the drive my original XP installation was on and installed the new x64 XP. I restore the vista boot file and I regain access to my Vista boot, but then I loose the XP boot, saying ntfsldr is missing. I look at the D: drive, and sure enough, the ntfsldr and thentsfdetect.com file are not in the D: drive. I use the XP boot disk to access the recover console, I then copied the two necessary boot files from the boot disk /i386, and now I regained access to Xp. After I started to install the chipset, sata, ethernet, and sound drivers I started getting BSOD. I reformat D:, reinstall XP, and start installing drivers without restoring the Vista boot, and I still go the same BSOD. I can boot up XP and let the computer sit, and after a while, I get the same BSOD. I know it cannot be a hardware issue, as I have never come across hardware failiures in the Vista boot, or running the very hardware intensive FSX. Regardless, I ran seagate diagnostic software checking the drive that I am trying to install XP x64 on, all pass. My memory also pass tests, and stress tests. I had the system OC'd, but I removed them and still no sucess. The following is the details of my stop error: it mentions disk.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP: 0x00000050 (oxFFFFFA
