Although Windows 2000 is a great operating system, the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is alive and well. In part two, I’ll discuss several specific error messages that you might find on a Blue Screen, and I’ll explain what those messages mean in plain and simple English. What’s a Blue Screen of Death? If you’ve been a long-time Windows NT user, you’ve probably seen the Blue Screen of Death a few times; but if you haven’t, or if you’re just getting into Windows, I'll take a moment to explain what the Blue Screen of Death is.The BSOD refers to an error message that’s displayed on a blue screen. Such an error is serious enough that it brings down the entire operating system, leaving the user no choice but to cold boot. Although it probably sounds as if I made up the phrase “Blue Screen of Death,” I didn’t. It’s actually a Microsoft term, and you can often find references to it in Microsoft documentsStop messages vs. Hardware messagesRegardless of what you call the BSOD, it’s something that you need to understand, because soone

Customer told that this fileserver was slow past couple days. After Antivirus SW upgrade he had to reboot the server resulting blue screen with errorcode 0x0000007B. This happens in the very early boot phase (intiliazing devices?).Recovery console or the others F8 choises are not working. I will test tomorrow if it is possible to press F6 during w2k server CD boot and install SCSI frvers from floppy disk. Then it might be possible to repair Windos from Installation CD.Custmer told that he had systemstate backup on the tape and I suppose also Shared data.Any ideas how to fix the problem if w2k Installation CD / F6 / load scsi driver from floppy / repair current installation doesn't work? Actually currently I have only Smart array controller driver on the floppy. I understanded from the manufactorers webpages that this what I need after F6. Furthermore, if I manage to start windows via F6 any other ideas what to do to fix the problem?Any other ideas what to do, e.g. reinstall w2k server? 10 answers Last reply Sep 3, 2005 More about inaccessible_boot_device blue screen AnonymousAug 25, 2005, 4:28 AM Archived from groups: microsoft.public.win2000.general (More info?)You might try loading the controller driver from floppy. For the floppy to successfully boot Windows 2000 the disk must contain the "NT" boot sector. Format a diskette (on a Windows 2000 machine, not a DOS/Win9x, so the "NT" boot sector gets written to the floppy), then copy ntldr, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini to it. Edit the boot.ini to give it a correct ARC path for the machine you wish to boot.In order for this to work you'll want to change the arc path in boot.ini from multi syntax to scsi syntax to indicate that Windows will load a boot device driver and use that driver to access the boot partition. Then also copy the correct manufacturer raid controller driver to the floppy but renamed to ntbootdd.sysSomething like this below;[boot loader]timeout=10default=scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt[operating systems]scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt="Windows 0,1"scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\winnt="Windows 0,2"scsi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partit
